Hello from Nottingham,

Not currently an owner of Subaru, but, back in 2010s when living in Oz, owned a Forester. Sine then in love with the Subaru brand.

Looking to buy one (Subaru Forester/Legacy or Outback) in petrol.

hi Members!

Ok put a deposit for a Subaru Legacy 2.0 REn Sport Tourer 2008 (manual) with 80k miles on the clock. I am still to speak to the mechanic who will be doing its check. Based on first discussion with the trader there is no timing belt change record in the service log (even if it has 1 owner since new!), so this is likely first thing I would need to do.

Any other suggestions to ask the mechanic/trader (car is 130miles from where I live, so have to use a local mechanic that I have not dealt with). I have read about front suspension bushes (which I had to replace in my Forrester years back) and AWD system (however how will I know if the tires have been swapped every 6000miles as suggested in the manual?)

One thing that potentially puts me off a bit its it age (16 years, however the trader accepted to exchange for my golf mk7 2014 with 108000miles. I also like the legacys gen 4 more than gen 5). At the same time miles are reasonable for its age.

Anyways any suggestions , pros and cons would be useful to hear from more experienced users.

Thanks

M
