i know bit late but i was away on holidays and didnt have much access to news. This happened last Monday and tribute convoy followed last night which included 761 cars !!!

This is cut from local papers:

The 22-year-old man who died after a crash on Victoria Avenue last night has been named as Vitor Dinarte Fernandes.

Two other people are currently in the General Hopsital being treated for injuries not thought to be life-threatening.

The crash involving two vehicles happened near to the First Tower junction at around 10 pm.

The man who died was treated at the scene and at the Accident and Emergency Department but died shortly afterwards. His next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specially trained officers from the States of Jersey Police.

The two other people currently being treated in hospital are a 47-year-old woman and 18-year-old man.

A man aged in his 20s was arrested a short time after the accident on suspicion of dangerous driving. He was due to be interviewed today.

Victoria Avenue was closed to traffic while the police investigated.

very sad event and tragic end of year 2013, my thoughts with family

on the other hand i find it bit awkward to organise tribute for someone who was street racing, running red lights and nearly killing other 2 innocent people

I'm like that. You feel for the family and friends but sort of think it could have been some pedestrian they killed, A lad who I know is due out after doing 2 years inside for killing a woman at some lights whilst racing he over took on the junction the lights was on green but the woman had already started to cross so was over halfway on the other side of the road as he smashed into her.

But I also know the guy and he's a really nice lad wouldn't ever start a fight with anyone unless you pi$$ed him off 1st but he would sooner walk away. But that moment of thrill seeking I guess on public roads we all do it I know ended with a woman dead. I was speaking to him before he was sent to prison and he was a mess, said all he can see when he closes his eye was her hitting the windscreen. Was put on loads of pills for depression and to help him sleep didn't drink much but started drinking after that. So it is tough I think the petrol head in use makes us feel for them. but our humanity pulls us the other way too :D

yeah it doesnt take much for accident to happen. we all have heavy right foot sometimes but potential consequences should always be taken into consideration before hitting full throttle on public road

I'm 1st to hold my hand up and say I do it. Most the time it's because I have an idiot up my !Removed! I knock it down a couple of gears and floor for a few yards to pull away from them. But if they come straight back at me I slow right down :D

Mind you saying that I watched 2 police cars about 2am side by side at some traffic lights racing each other off the line  I should have recorded it.

im sure we all done it at some point, inc me  but if you ever have an accident and you are considerate decent person it will change you, i remember when i run over deer and whole car was wreck. i was within speed limit and had no chance of stopping, ever since i look at those things differently. i love german autobahns tho :P  drove through germany 4 times this year and each time hit 120mph for a bit just to get that sensation and for sake of doing it legally :)
