Legacy 3.0 fuel gauge very slow

Featured Replies

Hi just bought a Legacy, and filled her up, fuel gauge shot up to half way, then took about 10 mins to get to the full mark,it does this every time, any ideas.

10 minutes is very slow I'd try come cleaner in there maybe the previous owners was only filling it about halfway or was it left stud for awhile. I try that see how it goes. I know mines not the quickest to show full but it's only about a minute.

its all done off a sender in the tank itself, as Gambit says it sounds like the linkage could go with a bit of a clean

Hi sounds silly, is it worth pulling out the senders, or trying a splash of redex or something in the tank first, and yes car has been standing for about 3 months with only a dribble of fuel in it, the last owner lost his job and couldn't afford to run it.

dont think redex will sort it - yes I would pull the sender out and give it a service - it should be with the petrol pump so not too hard a job to complete, dependant on how old the car / mileage is consider replacing the fuel pump whilst you are there?

2nd what Jay said :)

Imagine driving for ages thinking hmm this fuel lasting ages, then suddenly quarter of a tank left... Oh wait that's normal lol
