Jay762
There are a few classic owners on the forum, you want to watch for rust on rear arches - there is a lip on the inside that gathers crud, check for hoses that are now brittle or split due to age / heat etc, some basics there but for now I would refresh the brake fluid for some new 5.1 if it hasn't had a service recently Id get some good oil and plugs in place, new filter and check the state of your air filter - stick in some petrol and enjoy
Pommy
Hello and welcome, echo what Jay said really, the fuel filler pipes can also develop leaks through rust (pretty common) and not too hard to fix, and just keep her serviced regularly
mgray04
I have got a slight bit of rust on the rear arches. And I will be servicing next week. The plugs look awkward to change!! Lo l
Pommy
Might want to think about getting the rust sorted early and then protecting with an underseal. As for plugs take windscreen fluid reservoir off (2 screws) and place out of way. Don't need to remove hose just screws. And on the otherside remove some of the intake piping and you can get to them. mgray04
Cheers. Is the rust something that you would sort yourself or get professional too. And If so. Is it expensive?
Pommy
Depends really. If you can weld and are confident then go for it. If not then it depends how bad it is. If it's just surface rust you can try and use a wire brush to get it off and then underseal it. However most of the time when you notice it it is more serious than that and will probably need cutting out and welding in. Also depends on where abouts it is exactly and will it need repainting when done.
