edizio
Just had a new downpipe fitted on the impreza; 3.5inch sports cat. The turbo heat shield is still on but from the turbo to the cat back is just the exhaust tubing. I'm still running a top mounted intercooler so I was wondering would it be worth heat wrapping from the turbo down to the cat back pipe? I'm concerned that without the original heatshield from the OEM downpipe, I'm creating additional heat in the engine bay. Should I wrap and if so, any specific brand/make? quit
Easier to wrap before you fit mate , not a massively hard job but is just use black wrap off eBay
edizio
Is it neccessary to stop damage to other components in the engine bay? I assume there's a difference in sound too?
quit
It's just to try avoid heat soak really
Scooby Pete
There's a few choices around I went for a gold one, there are black and white also. When do wrap it, soak the wrap in water 1st, then wrap the pipe. Wrap it as tight as you can over lapping at least half the width of the wrap. Use steel cable ties to tie it off. Don't worry about the smoke coming of it for awhile this is just the water boiling off and the wrap will shirk to fit the pipe even better.
