BlackBosh
I had this idea to re do my car insurance before it's up for renewal (well before) as I turn 25 and can save a lot of money by cancelling and taking out a new policy, amongst other things like points expiring and being able to get drive other cars easier. So then out of privelage, admiral, esure, Churchill, Sheila's wheels, diamond. Any of these not a fan of mods? Any of these not keen on giving DOC entitlement. Anyone had any horrendous experience with any of these companies (ie the company i first went with that wanted a massive portfolio filling in and pics etc which was all rather dodgy and liked to make mistakes and bill you admin fees to correct them) Ta in advance Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
tom_gr7
I notice you are in the army, i was and found that when the cars was registered on the insurance as staying on camp overnight reduced my premiums. How long is left on your policy? Would it not be cheaper in the long run to finish the year on your current policy n collect the years no claims? BlackBosh
I'm not even half way through mate and the price difference I'm looking at Is ridiculous. I will have a look into the address thing but renewal price is no longer an issue as we are now recommended to have business use etc
JusNoGood
Why are you limiting yourself to those companies? I can't really advise as I'm 20 years older than you so don't have the same difficulties. I have had really good experiences with swift and LV...and you've obviously got the brokers who specialise in mods
BlackBosh
Not limiting myself they just came up as the lowest price on a few conparisons
stants
Try flux, sky and, japcover(mark richards) all brokers all equally competitive plus you can usually go between them and get the price down :-)
BlackBosh
Hoping someone would come along and say I'm with one of those with mods and Doc entitlement lol
Gambit
I would get a quote from Flux and see what you get with the club discount. I found greenlight very good with quote too think they was about £20 cheaper than Flux for me. Only reason I stayed with my current insurance is I've been with them for nearly 9 years and there office isn't far if I want to pop in and shout at them :) but pay about £60 more a year which is the NFU And I would be careful I'm sure if you cancel this policy other insurance companies use it as a mark against you. BlackBosh
Thanks for the heads Up but im 99%sure it only affects you if they cancel it instead of you if you get my drift
stants
Just renewed mine today with mark richards, a rather reasonable 579 fully comp with exhaust declared :-) Surely if you cancelled half way through you'd only pay a month extra admin fee. Most of the big insurers don't like many mods as they assume you an idiot and will kill everything and your self because you have a million horsepower and you've changed from oem spec so the car is not as intended etc. The brokers and specialists tend to know their stuff and understand that it's your pride and joy and a lot of time and money has gone into it so you'll do everything in your powers to keep it looking good and in tip top condition. bitman
short answer; all insurances are scumbags full stop. long answer; the premiums are like the weather so YOU can only ask for quotes as they are most of the times different to every one so not one insurance does has the same premium every time. what i mean is that i might get a good quote at insurance x over insurance z but for you it can be the other way around. avoid to just take the renewal quote but look around. i had some good results by using Keith Michaels as Jason Robbery give me a discount since i'm a member of the HPOC forum but this can be total different for some one else. stants
Direct line won't even touch you if it's an import or modded so it's all balls ! I know of people who had mk3 mx5's theres a factory option lowering spring set from eibach which if you got installed at time of purchase no problems insuring. If you were buying used and wanted to get lowering kit from your dealer the insurer wouldn't have it and couldn't get cover. As bitman says they are all as bad as each other
Gambit
I think Bitman hit the nail on the head really. It's like I said to my insurance on the phone I would never claim on my insurance even if I wrapped it around a lamppost I would pay to have it moved and get another one and scrap it as long as nobody was hurt. it's not worth it otherwise the next insurance just bites you in the !Removed!. I hate them all :D

bitman
have a read in the comments of this article; https://uk.finance.yahoo.com/news/two-million-us-guilty-insurance-090910772.html here is food for thought I am 58 years old my wife is 50 we both drive she as been on my insurance for the last 28 years as a named driver but she rarely drives our car both of us are very careful drivers never had a bump speeding ticket or even a parking ticket a blemish free driving history but every year we have to go through the same process with different insurance companies trying to get the best price because our renewal price as gone up at higher rate than my wages I must point out Ihave even tried reducing my renewal by having my wife taken of my policy only to find that it will cost me more the point is I amcommitting fraud by having my wife on the policy to reduce my premium or is it only fraud when it suits the ****ing insurance companies practice what you preach you thieving morons
