Question regarding speed limits weight limits and trucks

So I drive a Daf Lf 45.220 on a daily basis and I've been having an argument with my mate about whether it can go in the 3rd lane on the motorway. Does anyone have any knowledge on this? I am certain it can do 70 on Mways, 60 dual and 50 on SC. It looks like one of them Royal Mail trucks by the way

See it's not a commercial vehicle and it's not restricted so can do the full 70 so does it still apply? I only just found out about the van thing too been driving them for years

The max laden weight of your truck is what? About 12t?

If so, the first line of that link applies:

The types of vehicles not permitted to use the right hand lane on a motorway (which has three or more lanes) are,

a goods vehicle having a maximum laden weight exceeding 7.5 tonnes,

I want to be right on this one, but would be nice if I could use the outside lane more as cars and trucks see a truck and assume you are doing 53/56 so always pull out on you pisses me right off

If I saw a seven and a half tonner in the outside lane doing over 50 I'd be scared as hell !

With the van speed limits you csn only get caught by moblie camera vans and the police patrols, obviously gatso's the like can't distinguish between vehicles,

I've been piling round in various size vans for years luckily never been caught doing what I though were legal speeds, now it just gives me an excuse to drive slower and take longer doing my daily deleveries

It has blue lights hence the lack of limiter I know what you're saying though it gets funny looks when you're doing 70+, I'll just keep it out of the outside lane for now unless the lights go on and you can all move out my way haha

Some speed cameras can tell the difference between vans and hgvs

I've just read this page : http://www.transportsfriend.org/road/rsl.html

That seems to suggest that you should have a speed limiter. I'm no trucker so most of that page dosnt mean a lot to me and I'm probably wrong to be honest :)

If its before a certain yr it doesn't need a limiter.I no a few firms who are trying to hold on to theres lol for obvious reasons
