Engine Swap...

Featured Replies

right im the owner of a 2004 wrx prodrive and the engine blew up because the lad who had it before me pushed it to its limits daily and had it remapped to 368 BHP with the upgrades hes done to the engine. ive purchased a 2005 engine from a wrx import and am planning on replacing the bits of old engine and strapping it all together and hoping it is going to work fine. should i expect any problems or will it be a straight swap ? and will the ecu reset its self since the cars been apart for a while... somebody told me this might happen /??

thanks

Hi mate welcome. I can't see there being any problem you have both engines there if anything is needed off one that will fit the other, but I guess you never know with some jobs until you start. Had that many times myself in the past :)

And the ECU should still remember the mapping if that's what you mean I think after a set time it removes the codes if it had any I believe but don't hold me to that :)
