JPerrett Posted May 12, 2013 Posted May 12, 2013 HELP! Recently there has been weird noise coming from the back of my scooby. When I put the car under load in a corner a sound that I can only describe as a 'rubbing' noise appears. I had the rear wheels off and can not find any evidence of tyre rubing. More recently withing the last few days there is a constant "klunk", but when I speed up the noise goes away. Any ideas?
Bip Posted May 12, 2013 Posted May 12, 2013 When you say it sounds like rubbing, does it sound like the tyre is making contact with the arch or more of a dull wheel bearing rubbing? First thing I would check is the drop links. They are quick, easy and cheap to do and they solve 70% of strange noises. 2
Gambit Posted May 12, 2013 Posted May 12, 2013 My 1st guess will be bearing or maybe the Hub. If you have an idea which side it is jack it up and see if the wheel wobbles. 1
kevin bradley Posted May 12, 2013 Posted May 12, 2013 Jack up both rears . And remember axal stands . If you doint have eny doint lie under the car!!!! Let the handbrake of and put your hands top and bottom of the wheel and cheak for play in the wheel bearings plus look for oil on the shock absorbers then check your drop links and rubber brushes behind the wheel subaru shocks on the rear are notorious for knocking when worn as thay sit at an angel not straight up and down and alsow cheak top suspension mount behind the back seat 2
Gambit Posted May 13, 2013 Posted May 13, 2013 Another thing I would check is the breaks, see if you have the metal plate on it looks like a T I lost one once and it can make the pads rattle about. 1
