W33_TAGS Posted August 25, 2014 Posted August 25, 2014 Evening, I have recently purchased a 07 GB270. Past few days i have heard a rattling coming from the rear of the car, I thought the spoiler may be loose but is solid on the boot, it only starts when i take off and never hear it when at speed. Clueless ??? me too. I dunno if its the rear diff? the suspension or the wheel bearing, had a look under today but no visible signs. Any one had this problem before on the GB270 or even on STI. Would like to find out what it is before taking to garage. Cheers w333tag
savage bulldogs Posted August 25, 2014 Posted August 25, 2014 Could try checking Exhaust mounts (give it a shake) Rear droplinks (wear/ play in the bushes) and rear shocks (prone to failure on the blobeye I think) Play in the rear wheels Does it do it over bumps or corners as well ?
W33_TAGS Posted August 25, 2014 Author Posted August 25, 2014 exhaust mounts are fine, when pulling away its as if its stuck, then go over a bump and sounds wobbly if you know what i mean
Ash007ks Posted August 25, 2014 Posted August 25, 2014 heat shields for the backbox/mid box on the rear are a problem, check the struts themselves as they could be worn.
stants Posted August 26, 2014 Posted August 26, 2014 Was on about this with nick and dave the other day, they reckon its just drivetrain noise his sti does it and he's had it up on ramps to find out and can't see anything that would cause it. Can't remeber for the life of me exactly what he said he thought it was but I'm sure he'll be a lon in a bit
Gaulson Posted August 26, 2014 Posted August 26, 2014 Sounds like your rear shocks have dried up which is fairly common, they just need taking off and greasing again then the noise should dissapear. 1
W33_TAGS Posted September 3, 2014 Author Posted September 3, 2014 Thanks for the comments, drop links needed replace and it is the pistons in the rear shocks are sticking. The car is coming on well with bov, subaru flaps and blitz exhaust. Looking and sounding the part :)
