Ever since ive had the car the wipers either knock on the pillar or go to far down,so when its raining its so lovely listening to the banging all the time.Ive tried taking them off and altering the position and re-tightening up,but to no avail.Any ideas as its driving me mad

Only thing I can think of is wrong size wipers, not sure how that would affect anything really though mate.

had a think about this and only thing I can come up with is over sized wipers or aftermarket motor linkage arms which increase the distance the blades and wiper arms travel

No clue, maybe one of the guys with a classic could measure what they have

Just read that back, to clarify, I meant measure their windscreen wiper blades  ;)
