Hello all

I've just bought my first subaru, after years of owning Honda's

It's a early 98 impreza reg in feb, it's a 2.0 turbo 2000 awd.

Now to the issues, I put on a autobahn fmic, and that's where my issues started ran fine for 2 days little bit more power and sounded really good. But the the management light came on and wouldn't rev past 4k wen you go hard on the throttle. Then if you slowly go on the throttle it will rev past 4k but the will fuel cut, the code it's coming up with is code 44 turbocharging control signal. We have changed the fuel pump, fuel filter, and boost solenoid but no change and I'm running out of ideas, the speedo has now stopped workin! Any ideas guys? Cos I'm getting to the point of regretting getting a subaru :-(


You need to get it remapped so it knows that it has a fmic. Subarus are very fussy with what you do to them

Do you think that's the cause of my problem? If I put the top mount back on do you think that would solve it?

Why would the speedo stop working I have no code for the vss


Speedo could be a different problem altogether. I just know that you can get the car out of limp mode by putting the original intercooler on.

Could not having the restrictor pill cause this problem?

Yep the intercooler may be the source of the problem , most older imprezas don't like them and you will eat thro mafs at a alarming rate !!

Speedo I'm unsure on , damaged sonething while fitting the fmic. ?

Ok refitted the top mount, and did ecu reset and no differance, it now has resistor pill but I'm still getting code 44 I have no idea what to do now?
