  1. unsure where to post my legacy spares or repair here or parts section ? technically its a running and driving car but has a gearbox issue
  2. solved this it was a/the boost pipe that had split fyi
  3. so i finally found a SJ forester xt to buy only problem now is dealer has lost the SD card for the stereo ! is there a way around this or will they need to source on PDQ cheers for any insight
  4. mine has a threaded rod that screws into there through the thule feet with a spacer and nut to secure
  5. hi all i have a legacy diesel 2011 and under hard acceleration ont motorway it blows a sooty black cloud behind it ! stops as soon as you back off and seems to pull well any thoughts ???? cheers for any input
  6. should have said its a 2011 diesel se have tried to code keys in using method found on here no joy suspect transmitters are broken any suggestions for repair would be gratefully recieved
  7. hello all i'm back in the subaru family this time with a legacy had a forester xt before it was written off i have many questions but this first how do i find out which alarm is in min as the keys don't opreate the doors/alarm so going to code in withthe excellent guides on here cheers
  8. as per title looking for an xt as my last one was written of whilst parked auto box either engine size
  9. 57 its got low mileage too which i suspect is due to the speedo not working lol
  10. as above been looking for a replacement forester and found a candidate but the advert says speedo not working anyone know if big job/ball ache/don't touch with a barge pole ???? pretty handy witha spanner just wondering if its worth a punt ? thanks in advance for any advice

So to revive this thread finally found out what the white smoke was the turbo seals had gone and the turbo when i finally got it out was almost seized solid their was loads of oil in the inter-cooler too,quick ebay search turned up a new turbo two days of wrestling the beast out and new one back in and hey presto one happy mark !!!! . No white smoke and now plenty of horse power loving the new car lol

  13. hi all so i had a strange thing happened after i picked my car up it had been stood for a week while i was working away,there was a small pool of oil under it and when i drove it away it was producing white smoke from the rear end for about a mile then it stopped checked oil and it was down a small amount and no further incidents of smoke ?????? any ideas ???
  14. Cheers MR B someone on another forum has supplied an extensive database of when and where the parts were used on which subarus,And it seems the manual is the same as the auto according to the information

  19. so have looked at the differential the only markings i can see are x261
  20. its noisy and can feel resistance/grinding when turning tight circles at slow speeds
  21. cheers tyres are newish by the looks of it i'm going to check wheel bearings and brakes i became suspicious of the diff when i opened the filler bolt and half a litre of oil came out on level ground where am i looking for number on the diff ? thank for your reply
  22. hi all i'm back i think my new to me forester needs a rear diff is their a difference with manual and auto gearboxes so i need a specific diff ?????
  23. cheers when you watch the speedo it isn't that slow just feels it as its quite smooth accelerating
  24. hi all i just picked up my first forester its the 2.0 xt auto having never owned an auto before it seem a little slow on the throttle response even in neutral is this normal ? tia mark
