  1. find another garage
  2. now you let cat out the bag.....yeah you dont earn no claims and limited to mileage,,,but you can up mileage and make bespoke insurance policy...my past cars for 18years are ford cortina mk2 1600e then triumph 2000 mk1 estate and now a brown dolomite 1300 but back too your age they may not insure you til your 25,,,sorry age is a factor...but phone up and ask
  3. insurance is like stock exchange,,,up n down weekly if not daily....ive gone for non-turbo as its same price as my dolomite(see my build thread) and i can add it to my policy for 40 quid and still have same cover as dolomite......sorry but is your age thats goner hamper you...but turbo now and pug it away for 4 years and then insurance is cheaper....when i started to drive after passing my licence i was driving fiat 126 air cooled for 3 years that was really fun...shop around and also phone up company to cut out middle man fees!....hey its upto you and how deep are your pockets
  4. have you tried quotes on a non-turbo impreza,,,just a thought.....ive waited 20 years for a impreza
  5. first picture says 18" on tyre
  6. that is good to hear...so non-turbo are bulletproof in regular maintaned...that is good to hear....just that subaru`s have rust problems
  7. been reading posts regarding turbo engine and there problem ringland pistons...is that the same for non-turbo engines aswel? what should i be looking for, what are the common faults and what to watch out for
  8. and how many after a drive let it tickover for cooling period to stop excessive heat build so it cools down evenly so it dont leave hot spots
  9. if it is water damaged,re-locate the new or secondhand so water cannot distroy it again
  10. heatcycle.....you see loads of driver get in the car turn key and floor the crap out it when it cold.boy racers are prone for it you should let the car slowly warm up,try not to engage the turbo to boost...but you know what drivers are like
  11. car stereo aerial cable?
  12. nah just honest in what people have had done and not done to there car and say to me when they come to me for work on there car....me personaly i would not take my car to garage,i would rather scrap the car and buy another one...but it done to car owners who they trust!
  13. you might be better off breaking it to help others on the road
  14. yeah 75 labour.....10 for the bloke doing the job and 65 for fat cat watching youtube or tiktok
  15. once bitten twice shy,,,,dont blame you..........now,is there someone on here who KNOWS what there doing and can help this car out.i would rather give it to forum member to do the work at least you will be informed of whats happening and also you can buy the good parts yourself, and hand the car and part over...atleast your incontact with the person and you can see work being done,,,,some garages get shirty when you start asking question of whats been done
  16. plus london tax, covid tax,big boss tax and other tax......does bring it to £3400.....but how can we as owners be sure that the work has been done fully,,,,how can you tell head gaskets are good quality and not bought on cheap account and that they have used arp bolts.when all the work is hidden...that is alot of trust you give to the garage....and also watch out for the phone call when they have stript it and tell you its goner cost more for unforeseen problems which may be not there or they have balls up
  17. so thats £450-500 for parts and £3000 for a spanner person..........
  18. the wonderful world of GARAGES......very shocking..............had classic cars for over 18years only my cars have gone to a garage is only for the mot and thats a independent mot station
  19. have you checked the rear shock towers, they are prone to rust badly ideally you wont to remove the shocks and have a good look at both sides but it does look good and clean for its age even thou they were only designed for 10year life span
  20. dollys are fun...i tend to use the 59bhp on tap all the time 😀
  21. and common sense has also skipped a generation 😀 in car styling
  22. or copy n paste...................https://www.thingiverse.com/search?q=subaru+badge&type=things&sort=relevant.................if you know someone with 3d printer....just an idea
  23. the place you got mot done,,,,is it independent mot or garage getting work in? it all depends on what its worth to you...you can scrap it and get another and fined the same problems if not worse as the last one.you have to watch out for bodge-garages...(tack-tack welder with bathroom sealent) and there is loads out there so be careful, these cars are over 20years old so rust is a factor
