  1. Hmmmm, ok.

Well from what you just wrote, I would do a compression test & leak down test.

You would need to get a mobile mechanic in to do this if your not confident in doing that.

Get all the details wrote down before he leaves.

Before you mentioned the low compression I was thinking it sounds like the coilpack metal (x3 in each) connectors INSIDE the black plastic connector.

iv seen this issue a few times now, where coilpacks are diagnosed, but it's the connectors not making a good connection. This COULD have been the original problem.

the more they are slid off & put back on over time, makes them looser & looser. bad connection = misfire. Driving with missfire = eventually damaging that cylinder, what damage I hear you say, well that's what a compression test AND a leak down test will tell you.

Hope this points u in the right direction.

    let us know the results.....👍

Did this oldboy garage 4 years ago give you a code?, Did they document it?

Never ignore an engine light on a subaru. They come on for a reason.

Toolstation sell for £25 a cheap(but does the job) obd2 scan tool to tell you any code that might be stored. Might be worth you getting, plugging it in under the steering wheel & seeing if there's any codes

  2. Just I case any needs to know, or if any1 is interested in knowing LoL.

    When converting to speed density.

The 2x wires that come off the iat sensor need to connect to the old maf sensors 5 pin connector.

I bought a Subaru MALE 5pin connector (ebay) to connect to the old oem female maf connector so there's not any cutting off of wires from the oem loom.

The3x unused ports I filled in with some hot glue.

I connected it as in pictures below.....

    Hope this helps someone.

  3. Hello.

Ok, hoping someone can shed some light on an issue im having please.

    Impreza ecu in a forester.

The issue is, everything works as it should, apart from one rather annoying difference in the wires(maybe).

The fuel pump constantly primes on with the ignition on, just before the next turn to start it up.

I put my forester ecu back in the forester just to confirm it turns off after 2seconds of priming. It does.

I put the impreza ecu in an 02 impreza & all ok. As it should be. Fuel pump primes for 2 seconds then turns its self off.

I put my forester ecu in the impreza, & guess what, the opposite happens, no priming at all ?????

Again everything else works as it should with the impreza ecu in the forester.

it just annoying, knowing that something's not quite correct.

    anyone know the 'fix' ?

  4. You'll need the 'cruise control'control box that has what looks like an accelerator cable on it, you will then need a 'double' length throttle pin(2wire clips on it)going though the throttle to connect the cable to the throttle housing & the wires from the controler connecting to the appropiate pins on the ecu.

A lot of hassle for something that won't really be used that often.

i ripped my controller out so I could get the room for an RCM track attack oil catch can.

  5. Sounds like it's locked it's self, I'm sure it does that after 3 failed attempts to input the pin, but it should reset after 30mins I always thought. But as Mrb said, if all else fails to work then replace the keypad for a second hand one & ring Subaru for your 4number pin, but if a previous owner has changed that pin then it'll be no good to u. From memory(without looking at the manual) u can then recode 3 or 4 fobs to your sigma. Or rip it out....

    • IMG_0832.thumb.jpg.2e340641f510acdaaf043f462f2b8302.jpghi please could some kind lad or lass help me? ive bought this 2000 plate forester s turbo today and its quite a rare model as theres only 30 odd of these left in the uk.car has excellent bones and a fit engine but its missing a fog lamp cover as it was stolen 4 years ago. ive had a quick look online in the usual places but as i thought zero! this is my 1st subaru and ive always loved the forester earlier models as there a bit of a unicorn i think but does anyone know if this light cover is on other models at all?? or wheres a good place to look. if someone has one i will buy it as im looking to restore this car bit by bit simply because of the rarity of it but mostly because i love it. the car has a massive pile of history with it and last 2 owners were elderly gentlemen so its helped the car make it 20 years still running driving very nicely. so glad its not been young ladded 🙂 any help will be greatly appreciated. im sort of toying with the idea of having a copy of the right cover 3d printed as a last resort  if its possible. the car has a few areas that need tidying, theres slight paint lifting and surface rust scabs on both arches aswell as a small patch just above the rear wiper which can be easily sorted and the rear strut tops have all been sorted and welded up nicely.shes also just had bnew radiator, clutch, battery, cambelt, iridium plugs and theres a ton more.shes never wanted for anything thats for sure. sorry im rambling now 🙂 if anyone can help i will greatly appreciate it
