    Japfest 2021

Looking forward to this! Been a long time since I have been to a car show. Hope my car doesn't show up the club display to much. Work in progress😁 looking forward to meeting you all!
  2. After the 1500 mile holiday trip, I decided that not having a working power point to charge phones was just to annoying, so today took the dash apart tp reattach the wire .
  3. Managed to get one from London, being sent by 24hr courier, hopefully back on the road by Thursday.....
  4. Nice one, thanks ! I'll give them a try, it's in the back of the recovery truck just now, sad end to an epic goliday!
  5. Help! Power steering pump just went and took the pulley with it, being recovered by the aa back to my parents in Whitburn, West Lothian, can anyone recommend somewhere close to whitburn where I maybe able to get one? I need to get back to Birmingham. Car is a 1999 turbo 2k. Also does a gd pump fit? Struggling to find one! Cheers all!
  6. Found some and ordered πŸ™Œ
  7. Hi The car has started making a grinding noise from the drivers door when I lock it, I am guessing the solenoid is on its way out, Google hasn't helped with a part no, or if later cars parts will fit, does anyone here know? Car Is a 1999 classic saloon. Cheers
  8. The speakers in the car are ,well kak, tbh. One has blown and the others are standard with a poor sound. Does anyone know of speakers that will just fit in the standard rear and door positions? They don't need to amplify Guns N Rose across Wembley stadium, but a good sound quality is what I am after. Or if not, what size speakers are requires? Cheers
  9. Love this thread, gives me hope for mine. I see you are in the borders , I live in Birmingham but come from Eyemouth, I do miss it up there!
  10. As the plugs and leads hadn't been changed, decided to do that today, and clean the green panel filter that's already in there. All successful, she fires up , though the check engine light is on, I am putting that down to the maf not being reconnected yet as the filter need to dry, I thought a VR6 was a ****** to work on until this πŸ˜€
  11. Looking over my engine bay I noticed that the car has what looks like 2 linkages for a throttle cable, I guess one could be for Cruise control. Someone has cable tied them together, are they supposed to move independently, and if they should move together should there be a small bolt or something rather than a cable tieπŸ˜† The parts circled in red below, cheers guys!
  12. Small job done, replaced a previous owners battery holder bodge with a proper holder, it came with the car. All I had to do was buy new rods, the previous bodge was...interesting πŸ˜† A strap, tied to a bent screw
  13. It has a bit of rust starting in the inner rear wing on the passenger side, body shop is primed to deal with this once they have shifted some work. An Inspection revealed that the driver side has already been repaired, though I am going to get them to check that side over too.
  14. Hi all Thought I should start a project thread, as posted in the impreza section I bought a uk turbo 2k at the beginning of May. She seems pretty straight, been on the ramps ar TRD, and the only rot on the underside is on bolt on components, I plan to get them powder coated when funds allow, as a stop gap I've painted taken a wire brush to them and painted with engine oil, not ideal, but it will do for a bit. She only has 63k on the clock, got the old MOT'S and loads of paperwork, she has had a lot of money spent on her, that's for sure. Sorry, Initially this is just bits and bobs from the impreza thread, but it seemed the right place to post as I plan on doing more , once the body is sorted bit more power, but all mods need to be removable to keep the originality of the car.
  15. Today's little job, get rid of a previous owners battery clamp bodge. With the big folder of receipts for money spent on it, I can't believe this bent screw with a frayed bit of strap tied round it to hold in the battery, for the sake of £7... I know I need to give the engine bay a good clean ☠
  16. Spoke to a body shop today, they are going to look at the rust. Just waiting on them getting a free space, all good as in no rush, told them they can have it over winter, or longer if need be, do it between jibs to get a better price, hopefully all be good after. Then it's just a case of getting the bolt on parts cleaned up and powder coated. Hopefully this classic will have a long life in front of her!

Hi, new to the forum.and Subarus, used tonlbe the VW shows though, sp got a ticket, be there with my daughter, be good to meet you all πŸ˜€
  18. Had it down at TDR in Warwick today for an inspection and a change of all the fluids. Some little issues, like a broken bleed nipple on a caliper, and some corrosion on the arms and subframe, but nothing major, so all in all a happy man! Gotta say the guys at TDR are a great bunch, chatty, happy and helpful, very happy with the service πŸ˜€
  19. Cheers Damien, hoping for a decent quote, as you say hopefully not a crazy figure... Upside is that it is still solid, thumping it from the outside, and the inside as best I could and didn't break through, so could look worse than it is, though with my luck I doubt it πŸ˜’
  20. Hi there As above really, I would get it up on some stands and look for more serious rot in the rear, if it doesn't owe you any money, and it sounds like it doesn't, then you can get to work restoring it, sure you will enjoy it, and not feel.any pressure πŸ™‚ I've just bought a 99 uk car and am planning on doing this with it, maybe we can help each other out with stuff as we go along πŸ‘
  21. OK so got a camera in between the boot and the outer wing, and on the nearside there is some of the dreaded rust. Hard to get to, and hard to get a scale of the issue but it hasn't gone through to othe outer of the wheel arch yet, so I reckon the car can be sorted, seems a shame not to save a classic! What you guys reckon?
  22. Thank god I didn't see anything like that when I took the seats etc out. I would have been devastated. Looks like a shocking job, one for a sunny weekend!
  23. Got the sill covers off, in great shape thankfully! Cleaned the crap off and sprayed with some wd40 and they came up nicely. So the only rot I have found so far is that small plague in the boot. Happy so far...
  24. Thanks, I'll do that, so far apart from that little plague on the inner in the boot it's looking good. What's involved in dropping the strut out on one of these? Cheers
