Pop quiz
Looks like it's at the side of the alternator so our side would be the drivers side. Not sure what it does but looks like where the 2nd finger is pointing too has snapped in half so I would have thought there should be another half some where that would clip in

Speedo conversion
Hi mate welcome to S.O.C Only people I have know thats done it used what you said about the Delimiter chip and used the white dial covers. Like these for example http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/SUBARU-IMPREZA-LEGACY-SPEEDO-CONVERTER-DELIMITER-CHIP-/400060708263 http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/WHITE-Imported-Subaru-Impreza-Replacement-Speedo-Dial-Kit-KmpH-MpH-0-180-/190691363701?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item2c66174b75 other than that I'm not sure I've never done it myself. One of the other members might have done it before and be able to advise better :)

No you're not doing anything wrong Stanton500 has this problem seems to do with the year they don't seem to with the OBDII readers. I can't remember what the outcome was now. Not sure if it was the two black plugs with the forester that was done in the end. But I know it won't work like it does on anything around 2001 onwards the OBDII scanners. I would say your diagnostic would be spot on, but check for pipes that might be split or lose :)

Could anyone identify a switch for me please.
I've not seen one before but did wonder if it would be like a 2nd type of immobiliser switch. But be cool if it does have an ejector seat ;)

What is this
Safe to say I didn't know :)

Spoiler fitting
I would check your boot 1st like Dave said mine already had the the boot lid but had the WRX spoiler. I know my spoiler isn't a genuine STI because the light position is in the top part of the spoiler not in the bottom part, but hasn't bothered me and I don't think you can tell really. looking at the guy who comes here with his STI.

SVX / general questions
I would change the head unit to a better one but just keep the old one if you want to sell it on :) I would have thought a similar year would fit with the steering wheel. Subaru don't ever seem to walk off the path to much with the models. But that is only a guess hopefully one of the other members might have more knowledge than me on it :)

Tappets?

Legacy, feels sluggish with no power...
I do the same but always need to gear down to 3rd if traffic is starting to move again so wouldn't have thought it would be driving in a higher gear I would imagine a lot of us do that to try penny pinch some fuel saving :)

Not sure mate strange it only happens from cold start and clears up I normally find it's the other way round with these sort's of issues.
