  1. Just a quick one all, but does anyone know where the factory fitted Sigma M30 alarm ECU is located? and also does anyone know where the siren is located in the engine bay? I thought both would be obvious but seemingly not! Many thanks, Chris.
  2. Haha Gambit! weekdays after school, the good ol' days! Totally iconic was the JPS Lotus :) Jay, WOW! how cool is that beastie?!
  3. That Ferrari reminds me of: Hehe, sorry, I had to! I know the sport's got to evolve for technology drives and also safety (funnily enough a friend and myself had a long convo about it on the way to toughguy yesterday), but it didn't do anything to stop the last few generations of F1 cars looking and sounding a bit anaemic :( I love this Ferrari though: And a Lotus from a little further back in time: I know we won't see the likes of these sorts of cars again but it's cool that we can look back on them :)
  4. Lol Gambit, I'll see what I can do! ;) Will do Jay :) hoping it's of some benefit to others aswell when done! I've also found a set of JDM power folding mirrors complete with the correct switch for an amazing price, and they're in the correct colour for my car too! talk about lucky! yet another project then!
  5. Cheers chaps! Will hopefully be better for the weekend, a wash and pics to follow if so! (for the car, not me, but you never know!) Just ordered a Sigma S30 to replace the 'professionally' ravaged alarm on the car, from what I can tell it's the updated version of the M30 which was factory fitted so I'm hoping it should be easy to fit! Daft as it sounds, having to unlock the car with a key has been a real downer! plus no alarm, no insurance cover if stolen I suppose! I've got a couple of little projects to write up asap, if all goes well there's hopefully something useful to come out of it which will help those with a loose shaft... on the gear linkage front anyway! :D Fingers crossed it's a goer!
  6. Thanks for feedback guys! Well I've opted for Fuchs Titan Unimax, a fully synthetic 10w40 courtesy of Opie Oils, and not a bad price either! All I have to do is shift this man flu and get my finger out now!
  7. Agree with the suggestions from everyone else! I can also recommend Mintex stuff, I've only ever used the road pads but they're great and not particularly expensive. They also do fast road and motor sport spec pads. My mate also swears by Pagid stuff but never I've never used it. I believe Pagid were factory fit for a lot of performance cars so I guess they can't be bad either :)
  8. Mephiston, Gambit, Miggs, Thanks for the positive comments, fellas! Actually I thought I might get slated for the light covers! I did see a set of PIAA covers but they're so serious! I think the KC covers are just a little comical without being totally daft! Ahh, throwbacks to seeing various Tamiya models in the (Kays?) catalogues years ago and wishing and wanting, all the buggies seemed to have yellow KC 'smiley' light covers :) Frog, Grasshopper 1 etc! I did think about sticking a small Tamiya twin star sticker at the top of the rear window but not really sure on that one, oh well! And again, such a friendly website, makes a change! I recently signed up to PH and well, it's not quite so friendly, but never mind :)
  9. Amazing, clean car! Totally agree, straight into someone's collection! Also thirded colour wise, I'm not a fan of that dark metallic green, on any car though to be honest!
  10. Personal preferences and all that, but I'm not a huge fan of polyurethane bushes. I used to run them on my old '79 Mini Clubman. They'd compress horribly without returning, especially on the tie-bars. When I had my Defender I was going to run poly bushes on that and got put off by members of LRO and the LR Forum. I'd say just ask your dealer for an OEM set of rubber bushes if they need replacing. The chap who posted the info from E30zone does make some compelling points, the info is in the link to the LR forum here: http://forums.lr4x4.com/index.php?showtopic=16835 Totally your choice fella, but definitely food for thought there :)
  11. Ahh thanks bud! I haven't but I will join up in that case, nice to find some local enthusiasts too :) And some fairly ropey photos of my car: And one frosty morning showing the newly fitted KC Daylighter lower lamp covers. Not to everyone's taste but they make me smile and after whapping a hole through a lense previously and knowing they're not all that cheap to replace they're functional too! :) It's a completely standard UK Turbo, save for the Prodrive backbox and earlier Nardi gearknob. It does want a few little things sorting but I'll just enjoy doing the little jobs as I get chance :) I'll give the car a wash and get some better quality pics up.
  12. Gambit, Jay, Thanks chaps! seems like a great forum, very friendly and knowledgeable! :) Mephiston2k, I'm in Stoke on Trent, yay for Stoke!
  13. Hi all, Oil is as I recall on the Subaru forums a done to death topic. But does anyone know about the UK company Viscol? http://classicrockoil.co.uk/shop/ A lot's talked about oil and some people seem to think unless you're pouring the likes of Millers in the sump you might aswell be filling it with sandy seawater! In a local shop they're doing a fully synthetic 5w30 Viscol stuff for a good price, just wondering if it's worth getting. I change the oil around every 6 months or 3000 miles. Which leads me onto my next question. The factory recommendation is 5w30 but most use slightly thicker stuff. For Winter use in a car which mainly potters about with the odd spirited drive thrown in is 5w30 ok do we all agree? I ran my previous Impreza on 5w30 in the colder part of the Winter months and a 15w50 in the hotter Summer months and it seemed perfectly happy. Got used fairly hard sometimes but no track days or sustained high speed runs on motorways (where's the fun in a motorway with an Impreza anyway?!.) Any thoughts on that? anyone else do the same? On another note I'm working on a warm start system compromising various factory bits and pieces, I'll do a write up as it progresses! any help at all from a dead cold start is a good thing IMHO :)
  14. Hi all, I've recently just acquired my second UK Turbo after owning my first about 5 or 6 years ago, which I had to sell to get a mortgage deposit together! bad times! But finally I'm back in the land of Subaru and once more enjoying the boxer rumble! I'll post some pics of my old car and the new one asap!
