JapShow 2016 Sunday 10th July.
Will certainly be attending, though it might be my last one as I am preping the SVX for sale, storage space will be going over the summer and don't want it sitting on the road full time. Might be having regular sunshine by July haha.

Laserline alarm/immobiliser problems
Hi All, after some urgent advice please. Had the SVX about 6 weeks now and the only issue I've had is that occasionally the battery would go flat overnight. I'd put this down to a sticky brake light switch and a quick charge would solve the issue - until friday night. Car dead, no central locking from alarm fob, no dash lights and no start. Saturday morning I put it on charge for a few hours but no joy. Tried to jump start from my van, but still no joy. Called Flux rescue and after a 3 hour wait guy turned up who could not even check battery! He came to the same conclusion as me, the immobiliser is the culprit. Can anyone recommend a good Auto-electrician in the Leicester area who would come out and sort me out? At the time of the 'recovery guy' visit the dash lights and the brake lights were the only ones that would light up, no other electrical activity, though when he connected his jump starter I'm pretty sure the starter engaged but would not start. This only happened once and no starter activity since. This morning there is no electrical activity at all. Pretty sure the Laserline is not an OEM fitting so not a problem if the unit is just removed and replaced with another, if so, any recommendations? Although it is not a daily driver I do need to get the car on the road again, thanks. Peter

30 years of Prodrive celebration. Free Subaru meet 8th June Prodrive Banbury Oxford.
Arrived at 9:45 and I was in the overflow car park. Good to meet up with a few of you and a chance to move the car into the main area. Called in on Chris on the way back and we had matching SVXs on the drive. Happy days.

Wheel refurb
Once the wheels are done next up is some minor dent removal and after that I've got a few scuffs to sort out myself. Much as I love my job, doing it for free at the weekend always seems like hard work :-)

As long as the wheels are fitted I'll be there, sounds like fun

Northampton meet
I'm up for it. The SVX is not designed for hooning round the lanes but a pint with some SOC members sounds like a good afternoon.

Wheel refurb
As is typical on a 21 year old car the wheels on my SVX are showing signs or earlier repairs and corrosion so they came off today ready for the whole works, shotbast, fill and repaint in original colour. Will post pictures of the end results.

terra clean
Just had a look round some of the other forums, this seems to be typical of the effects, sounds like it does the business: http://www.bmwforums.info/bmw-chat/8771-terraclean-treatment-review.html

Peter's SVX
Some plain vanilla pictures of my newly bought SVX on my drive. A 1993 car with 65,000 miles pretty well as bought apart from a good clean. Some more artistic pictures will follow I'm sure.

paint
Not only is it the paint code but there is only the one mix so they match should be good.

When will we see the first Svx .....
Well I picked up the SVX yesterday and drove it home 150 miles (it was only 100 miles TO the location, which gives you an idea of what I think of the car) through the rain so will not post any pictures of the outside, but here are a few of the interior and engine bay for those who have not seen an SVX up close: Drivers view Rear seats Passenger side 3.3ltr flat 6 Will clean it up over the weekend and post some pics in the gallery. Have a great Bank Holiday weekend Peter

When will we see the first Svx .....
Hi Mike, your car looks very nice, I collect mine, a '93 model, on 1st May. I understood that the last batch of cars were all solid red without the contrasting roof. I have looked at about 20 over the years but never seen a solid silver, just the run out reds and a pearl black. You will find the build year at the floor end tag on the drivers side seat belt, that might give you some direction. Peter

When will we see the first Svx .....
Well I bought one over Easter but can not pick it up until the 1st May. Posted a couple of pictures on my other thread. What we need is a Midlands meeting.

Another SVX joins the Club
Have looked at about 9 since christmas. Not bad considering there are only about 70 still on the road (+ a few on SORN). Will have to get all the cleaning kit out then post some more pics.

Another SVX joins the Club
Well after many months I did a deal on Good Friday to get my SVX. Black over Burgundy, my preferred colour mix. It's a 1993 car with 67,000 miles and good history. Not taxed at the moment so will pick it up on 1st May and add some more details as I work over the car. Here are a couple of pictures to whet your apatites:

When will we see the first Svx .....
I am actively looking for a nice SVX. Started looking about 7 years ago but could not find anything I really liked. Started looking again just after Christmas and have looked at about 4 so far and hope I am getting close. Will post as soon as it happens. Though I am not looking for concourse I will have it looking smart by the time I'm done. Watch this space, but if anyone knows of a good one that might be for sale, please let me know. Cheers Peter

Advice on Detailing car.
The menu you have set up looks good Pete. I know a lot of people like the idea of having your own DA but in my work (10 years of doing smart repairs on everything from Fords to Ferraris) I still see lots of examples of owners (and semi-pros) who have burnt through the paint on a swage line. If you do use a DA please treat each area on a panel with a swage line, as a separate area, working TOWARDS a swage line and NOT over it. Modern water based paint, as used by most manufacturers for the last 15 years is very good, but about 1/2 the overall thickness of the previous paints. Take care and enjoy the process. Peter

SVX / general questions
Hi All, I know the SVX is not general fair on the site, but some of my questions may apply across the Subaru range, so here goes. I have found a car that fits my mechanical needs and the bodywork is something I can deal with but the interior is a bit rough so some things would need to be dealt with PDQ. The car is a 1993 build, though registered in 1995. Steering wheel has seen much better days, there is another wheel with the car but it is non air-bag. Would it be possible to fit the earlier non air-bag wheel, or would and air-bagged wheel of another Subaru model work? The ICE is a Kenwood radio/cassette head unit with a 6 CD changer in the boot. What I really want is DAB and MP3. Am I best to dump the old head and changer and fit a new head unit that fits my needs, or should I try and keep the changer? The head unit is single DIN, but there is room for a double DIN. Cheers Peter

Hi - SVX owner from Warwickshire
Chris, a little late, but just wanted to say thanks for the chat and the chance to see the car, you really have done well there. I looked at a lot about 7 years ago and yours is right up there. Still looking and I think it is your fault. Peter
