  1. Changed coolant earlier and when I ran car up to "what I have to guess" right temp as my temp gauge not working, fans don't kick in. With little bit of throttle to make sure it's hot enough fans just ent kicking in. Do they take longer then other engines to kick in or am I being stupid here. Plugged green plugs in and fans do come on so that's not the problem ? Could it be thermostat gone ? Bit worried bout using the car as I don't want a full meltdown here
  2. yeah mines up on regtransfers for prices around a 1000 i had an offer of 800 wish i took it there and then now :/
  3. Update.... Problem fixed ! Took the vac line off at the t-piece and poked the restrictor pill out and it was blocked up with black !Removed!. Cleaned out the lines with brake cleaner just to be sure. Took it for a test drive and just like that . The smile was finally put back on my face again !
  4. Ok so I spray the solenoid with cleaner and connect green plugs to click it through. Left it a while. Put pipes back on fire car up and it's misfiring to f***k. After a min or two it clears so I'm assuming that the cleaner had to clear. Took it for a test run and seems smoother under acceleration as it was getting bad. Still overboosting wasn't quite as bad initially. I feel I've found the culprit. How easy and would it be worth it to take the solenoid apart and clean it proply ?
  5. Thanks for that savage will try the cleaner first and see if that makes a difference. The solenoid is bolted to the drivers side strut tower isn't it ?
  6. No leaks. Someone has mentioned it could be that I need to clean out the boost solenoid ? How would I go about doing this ?
  7. Changed boost pipes and still over boosting ! Annoying
  8. Ram air it's a foam filter so not oiled
  9. Tried to get at knock sensor last week and removed intercooler and turbo pipes but couldn't get access to knock sensor so I stuck it all back on then few days later it's over boosting maybe I didn't tighten pipes up enough :/ ordered some new silicone pipes so when they come Friday I'll check I tighten it all up good when I swap them over
  10. I got maf code but had that ever since I had the car cleared it and it just came back but wasn't over boosting. Also knock sensor code and I have a knock sensor just waiting to get it on the car
  11. Yeah came with a cone changed it cause it was a no make tatty thing but I might go back to standard air box and decent panel filter just need to find one as cr didn't come with it
  12. Please don't tell me bad maf lol already replaced it once
  13. Not got boost controller fitted. And how would I go about checking if the actuator is stuck ?
  14. Ok I was coming home from work last night and on a stretch of dual carriage way as I gave it some... Instead of boosting to 13psi and holding it went off the scale and jolted back quite bad. Had the issue all the way back home any input would be greatly appreciated
  15. Thanks tlag ! What sort of symptoms would this sensor being faulty be giving me ?
  16. Had a quick look couldn't spot it will take top mount off bit later and see cheers gambit
  17. Got a fault code 22 on my uk turbo ej20g where is my knock sensor ? Cheers people
  18. Just a little issue that Nearly got me kicked out of my home for noise nousence ! When I bought my 97 turbo It came with a Clifford g5 alarm. Good news for insurance, little did I know it had a mind of its own ! It set itself off randomly at all times of the day and night. Was worried about locking it it became that bad. After weeks of scouring the net, asking people and printing off instruction manuals which gave me nothing ! I called a auto electrician that specialises in Clifford and he told me all I had to do was as soon as it goes off. Unlock it, jump in, stick the key in the ignition and the little blue Clifford led flashes to give you a fault code !. Rang him back and he told me straight away it was the bonnet switch. Which I have disconnected temporarily till I get it replaced. And I can't believe how underrated the silence is ! Why I didn't think to call someone before I don't know ! On my searches across the internet people had the same issue so thought I'd write this novel just incase anyone on here had the same problem. Anyway I'm gonna shut it now ..
  19. Its time to treat the old girl to some new shoes. What tyres are people running ? Which are the best for daily/grip combination
  20. Cheers nigel im gonna tear mine out tomorrow and see whats what and will get back to you ;)
  21. Very smart bloke 8-)
  22. I dissconnected the battery when i did the clean. I only needed to remove the intercooler to get access. Ive reset the ecu and been for a drive. Im thinking it must be the cluster playing up. Just notsure wether it will be repairable or if i need to replace it. Kind of annoying really
  23. Sorry what i mean is the dials doing that not the actual engine the dial isnt matching what the engine is idleing at
  24. Ok for some reason my rpm counter has gone loopy. When i fire car up it sits where it should. When revved it just drops off the scale and stayd about a grand short of what it actually should be. Any ideas ?
