What have people done about hardwiring power? I've been given a dashcam by my missus for birthday but don't really want a USB charge cable hanging in the car, what have people done about hardwiring especially on a 2015 model?

Did as you asked and set into full lock and started to turn, feeling the pull of the car at an angle and the way I can feel the diff getting upset I immediately realised it's a bad idea. You don't want to be using full diff "lock" unless you are on a slippy surface or you are definitely going to do some damage when turning hard as the diff will try to skip. So short answer "Yes" it doesn't like full lock and turning hard on tarmac, try it on slippery grass and see it it feels better and fingers crossed no damage to the diff. Generally i plan to use "lock" for snow or if I get stuck in mud. All the best. Phil

Welcome, I still remember mile 999 as I dropped 2 gears and booted it. General 1000 mile run in is always a good idea even if not just for the engine, bedding everything (brakes/diff) in nicely I think will make it last. Plenty of full power red line then cool down statements get made and they are correct you'll get more from the engine if you do but I think for long life follow the book. Loving mine, just about to hit 11K in 5 months so I didn't have to wait long to get my toe down. Out of interest was yours an ex-demo or just unregistered since arrival as I still don't know if more than 250 are coming into the country, especially with such high demand for them in the US/Japan. I've just had my 64 plate into Subaru for it's first service at 10K miles (only 5 months I've had it, so looks to be 2 services a year for me). I've had the brake concern since about month 1 as it sounds like my old ST205 brakes after not using it for a week. At first I thought it was the surface of the disc as it would scrape on the first couple of times braking. On closer inspection at the 4 month mark I could see 2 little spots of what looked to be metal on the disc surface which I could hear scrape every rotation while on the brakes at low speed. Asked the dealer to have a look and they said there is absolutely nothing wrong with the brakes and the pads weren't shifted or binding in any way. I still think in general it's something on the surface building up after use as it seems to clear up after a few stops (ignoring the 2 lumps on mine), only concern is if this will shorten the life of the disc or pads.

Welcome to another new model owner. I'd love to hear what it sounds like with a decat as I've always wanted one and it's my first new car so I don't have to worry about the MOT for 3 years. Only problem I have is that it's my company car and they pay my car allowance so if it's 'too' noisy they are likely to stop the payments and tell me to get something else more 'business like'! Phil

Welcome to the forum and another new model owner :) You should have your manual now and you'll see a section that says 98+ only so I run mine on Shell VPower, with the prices rocketing down at the moment it's not a massive jump from any other super's around. I've just hit 6100 miles on my 64 plate and it's showing 25.9 mpg average since zero miles, I can get 28-29mpg on a long work run, but generally get 23 if I have some fun on the drive home.

Was tempted by black but decided mine had to be WR Mica Blue! not seen anything online or from dealer on upgrades but would be interested to hear more although the missus might whinge lol

Welcome to the forum, just hit 5K miles on my new model STI which I've now had 2 months. Absolutely love it, touch wood I've not had the teething problems of others although the passenger seat warning does go off with just a 4 pack of beer on it, so I just belt it in and it's all good :) Would be interested to see what you think of a new stereo, was very much considering it as the Bluetooth connection in mine drops after 20 minutes and I hated the USB playback on the screen but I found the dash function for the center screen to show the tracks playing so I may stick with it. Hope if yours is a late model you should be clear of any of the known issues with rear diff leaking and petrol cap sticking. Enjoy! Phil

If an ambulance has no sirens or lights on they really should respect the laws of the road!! Cutting across 2 lanes on a roundabout running me into the curb has made me pretty livid, I've stopped swearing profusely but know even though I've put a complaint in there will be no point if they turn around and say insurance claim as it will cost more on my policy in the long run. For now, I shall call just end with wucking fankers!

Afraid not, wasn't out this weekend. Very rarely in Kettering although will be heading down past Kettering on the A14 tonight about 7pm.

I was driving out of Rushden to Wellingborough in Northamptonshire on Saturday night about 7pm, as I came up to the lights I recognised the headlights of another 2015 WRX STI behind me. You followed me all the way to the A45 where you turned off to Irthlingborough. Was nice to see another one, if only in my rear view mirror. Phil

Has anyone seen anymore evidence of this, I'm only 2 1/2 weeks in but already up to 1600 miles. I've been keeping an eye on it but hoping that the late build date of my car will mean it might have been resolved in the build process. Fingers remain crossed. Phil

Definitely know what you mean about attention, I don't do talking to random people but that's had to change since getting the STI lol. Where did you get the reverse sensors from and how much (inc fitting), it's a sad day I have to admit I was spoilt in the 3 series as I just parked using the sensors and it appears I've forgotten how to park now :( Cheers, Phil

Welcome, good to see another new model owner joining. I had a 4 month wait but mine arrived 3 weeks early so I've had it now for 2 1/2 weeks and already have 1800 miles on the odo. Absolutely loving it, interesting you say you came from a GT-Four as I sold my ST205 to get the deposit down on the new car, it definitely doesn't feel the same as the ST205 is a bum on the floor coupe and felt far more planted on the road whereas the STI is a fast saloon so much higher seating position. Really just a case of getting use to it as the power delivery is so much faster than the GT-Four, my missus says it feels like it snaps from lane to lane and she doesn't feel as safe in the passenger seat (yet). Hope yours is everything you wanted. The comfort on the roads is no problem at all till you hit some pot holes and then you feel the pain, but general driving it's no issue even compared to my old company 3 series on the m-sport suspension.
