Dash cam help
What have people done about hardwiring power? I've been given a dashcam by my missus for birthday but don't really want a USB charge cable hanging in the car, what have people done about hardwiring especially on a 2015 model?

New member saying hi.
I was provided a great article about all the driving modes: http://www.iwsti.com/forums/drivetrain-components/118275-vdc-dccd-si-drive-explained-great-info.html So from guidance I use auto- when I want abit more tail out/loose fun and auto+ when I'm concerned about grip levels. I'd just steer clear of lock all together. Phil

New member saying hi.
Did as you asked and set into full lock and started to turn, feeling the pull of the car at an angle and the way I can feel the diff getting upset I immediately realised it's a bad idea. You don't want to be using full diff "lock" unless you are on a slippy surface or you are definitely going to do some damage when turning hard as the diff will try to skip. So short answer "Yes" it doesn't like full lock and turning hard on tarmac, try it on slippery grass and see it it feels better and fingers crossed no damage to the diff. Generally i plan to use "lock" for snow or if I get stuck in mud. All the best. Phil

New member saying hi.
Welcome, I still remember mile 999 as I dropped 2 gears and booted it. General 1000 mile run in is always a good idea even if not just for the engine, bedding everything (brakes/diff) in nicely I think will make it last. Plenty of full power red line then cool down statements get made and they are correct you'll get more from the engine if you do but I think for long life follow the book. Loving mine, just about to hit 11K in 5 months so I didn't have to wait long to get my toe down. Out of interest was yours an ex-demo or just unregistered since arrival as I still don't know if more than 250 are coming into the country, especially with such high demand for them in the US/Japan. Stick some pics up if you can, I went for the WR Mica Blue as I just had to have the old skool colour. Enjoy your new car. Phil

Brakes on my sti
I've just had my 64 plate into Subaru for it's first service at 10K miles (only 5 months I've had it, so looks to be 2 services a year for me). I've had the brake concern since about month 1 as it sounds like my old ST205 brakes after not using it for a week. At first I thought it was the surface of the disc as it would scrape on the first couple of times braking. On closer inspection at the 4 month mark I could see 2 little spots of what looked to be metal on the disc surface which I could hear scrape every rotation while on the brakes at low speed. Asked the dealer to have a look and they said there is absolutely nothing wrong with the brakes and the pads weren't shifted or binding in any way. I still think in general it's something on the surface building up after use as it seems to clear up after a few stops (ignoring the 2 lumps on mine), only concern is if this will shorten the life of the disc or pads.

Ambulance Nightmare
If an ambulance has no sirens or lights on they really should respect the laws of the road!! Cutting across 2 lanes on a roundabout running me into the curb has made me pretty livid, I've stopped swearing profusely but know even though I've put a complaint in there will be no point if they turn around and say insurance claim as it will cost more on my policy in the long run. For now, I shall call just end with wucking fankers!

2015 Forester STI
Looks like announcement on the 25th November, seems to look very similar to the concept in the pictures they've shown. http://www.autoblog.com/2014/10/27/subaru-forester-sti-teaser/

2015 Forester STI
Just seen some interesting news about a new 2015 Forester STI, looks based around a concept at the moment but would be nice to see some new ones on the road. http://www.torquenews.com/1084/subaru-introduces-surprise-2015-forester-sti-future-motorsports-fans

New 2015 Sti leaking from rear-diff.....
Has anyone seen anymore evidence of this, I'm only 2 1/2 weeks in but already up to 1600 miles. I've been keeping an eye on it but hoping that the late build date of my car will mean it might have been resolved in the build process. Fingers remain crossed. Phil

2007 Forester XT Rear Door
My old man lives in Spain and managed to reverse into a concrete post with the off side rear door open causing it to bend the outer skin and dent. He's coming back to the UK in November and I've said I'll have a look for a rear door for him. (It would be counted as near side in Spain as it's LHD). The car is a 2007 Forester XT (230bhp one) and the car is the red (burgundy) colour, although can be resprayed it not the right colour. Anyone know of anyone breaking one or a place to get old spares? Any help or pointers appreciated, he's driving home so can collect most places in the south of England as I live in Northamptonshire. Cheers, Phil

2015 WRX STI Seat Covers
Oww nice, it actually meets her other request... "can the seat cover have flowers on it", I laughed and said "No". Seems I am the ogre :D

2015 WRX STI Seat Covers
Good plan, she loves sewing and knitting. :) (Not sure knitted rear seat covers go with the scooby style) May just be case of buying some material then if they are scary expensive from the dealer, already bankrupting myself getting the car lol. Phil

2015 WRX STI Seat Covers
Gonna have a word with the dealer, I expect a silly priced response. They do look pretty close on dimensions but there is definately a difference in patterns so won't be identical seats. Just hope they are still the same width as would mean sourcing would be alot cheaper. 2015: http://image.superstreetonline.com/f/features/1402_2015_subaru_wrx_sti_flash_drives/68542068/2015-subaru-wrx-sti-rear-seats.jpg 2011: http://images.newcars.com/images/car-pictures/original/2011-Subaru-Impreza-WRX-STi-Coupe-Hatchback-Base-4dr-All-wheel-Drive-Hatchback-Interior-Back-Seats.png Cheers, Phil

2015 WRX STI Seat Covers
Anyone know where I can get some reasonably priced rear seat covers, always had leather seats in my company cars and daughter knows how much I love my cars and the 2015 WRX STI is coming with alcantara/leather mix. In her words "I don't want to get shouted at for spilling something" so she wants some leather seat covers. Appears I'm some sort of ogre lol Any help appreciated, guess new model popularity in US with WRX/WRX STI having same interior will mean I'll be looking to get some from a US source, if any UK sources you know about would be handy. Cheers, Phil

WRX STI power foreign vs Type UK
I'm looking at the 2015 model as mines on it's way for October delivery, where the WRX is the 2ltr (268bhp) this isn't coming to the UK but the WRX STI is the 2.5ltr everywhere I believe and this is the model coming to the UK. Was just wondering on the difference as the car spec engine spec is the same in both locations just a difference in 9bhp is actually listed. There is such mixed information still as so many UK reviews incorrectly say 305BHP, but I think most of these are just taking review information from elsewhere rather than looking at the actual Subaru literature (which is really very limited).

WRX STI power foreign vs Type UK
Been doing a lot of looking at reviews of the WRX STI and it seems they vary from US/JDM/UK in power output, in the UK they are listed as 296bhp and in the US/JDM they are 305bhp or 300bhp. Is it just how they convert their BHP from 300PS in each country or is there actually a different ECU map or fuel RON level which affects how much power it develops. Did a search on the forum but couldn't see anything out about the power from the EJ257 and thought someone here probably knows.
