  1. I mean the system where the headlights have a high voltage warning symbol. The correct name for this system I'm not sure as I have heard of HID and projectors?? Are they all the same or different?? This system is often referred to as xenon lights, as I understand. You are correct that this is not accurate as xenon is a gas which you can now buy for normal headlights.
  2. I have a universal engine OBD II code reader. I am after one which reads and cancels ABS, air bag etc codes for my outback 2007. I used to have one of these for my previous car http://m.ebay.co.uk/itm/Audi-VW-Volkswagen-VAG-Code-Reader-Diagnostic-Scanner-Com-replaces-vs450-/271335094343?nav=SEARCH Is there a similar equivalent for my Subaru? Many thanks
  3. Hi, You will need to change the lights to UK as you said. rear lights need to comply as well. I believe rear fog light needs to be on right in UK (furthest from kerb), if your car has 2 fog lights then that will be fine. It will need to pass an MOT, which above is required for. You said there was crash damage, If the crash damaged is severe on a UK registered car you will require a VIC test. But as yours is not UK registered, so long as the crash damage has been repaired to a good standard I dont think there should be a problem. Registration of a vehicle was £80 about 10 years ago when I last did it, an internet search will help that. The process is a bit difficult as I remember getting tax, and MOT sorted with all nesesary paperwork, but not as bad as you are used to with Polish bureaucracy (my wife is Polish so I can comment with experience ;) ).
  4. Again many thanks, been doing my own search but without success. Will try to find a replacement DVD now.
  5. Thanks that was what I was thinking/hoping! Anyone know where the sat nav antenna is so I can be sure.
  6. Here is the antenna if anyone can tell me what it was for before it broke?
  7. Reception is fine. The antenna is an external one not built into the rear side windows.
  8. The antenna is broken, I am assuming it is for a previous occupants phone setup, but not sure as my sat nav also doesnt work (I do not have the DVD to check if it works). If it is a phone system since removed, im not concerened. But I was going to try and get a DVD for the sat nav, but if this antenna is for the Sat NAV and has been removed it wont work any way so what's the point! I dont have a picture as im at work and the car is at home but will get one uploaed later. Any advise will be appreciated. Thanks Greg
  9. As above dont think these are due to the engine temperature issues. As for the cables if the car is running fine leave them alone. "If it ain't broke dont fix it". If your that worried pay a mechanic to have a look for you! It maybe cheaper than any potential damage cause from curiousity.
  10. If it has enough power to play jingle bells then im sure the battery is fine. Should just be a reprogram. This is normally posibble on other makes without expensive computers but as I am new to the subaru world I dont know how this is done, Im sure someone who can help will be around soon. In past it has been holding button for w few seconds whilist ingnition or something similar, but I wouldt attempt anything until you know the exact procedure. Ps this really cheered me up :D
  11. He may not have this wheel. Xenon head lights by law are required to have automatic adjustment to prevent a heavy car blinding on coming road users (due to the extra brightness of the Xenons). During MOT the car should be adjusted only part of the test where a tester can change any part of the vehicle. Or you could just drive up to a wall, use the adjusting screws to lower the lights whilst car is empty, to regain the correct light height. As above Xenons by law must do this automatically, if there is a system fault they automatically drop to the lowest levels. If his are high I suspect the adjustment is out.
  12. Hi all, Auto box sump replaced was alot easier than I thought and now all my atf stays where it belongs :) thanks for the help and advice ;) Greg
  13. Hi all, I have a leak from my AT sump on my 2.5l outback. I intend to repair this myself. Is it as simple as dropping the old sump. making sure all surfaces are clean. Replace gasket and sump, refill AT. I intend to change filter at the same time. Also how do I find out how much oil is needed to refill the AT. Many thanks
  14. Hi I am looking at upgrading to a legacy estate as above. I was told the early subaru boxer diesels were problematic with no further details about why they are problematic? Can anyone shed some light on them, it is high mileage 130k, apart from fully history (as with any car with this mileage, or any car at all for that matter) is there any know problems with these? Many thanks. Greg
  15. Fixed it!! Found a fob programming guide online. Managed to program both fobs so now for the first time I have two working fobs! Here is link to the guide. http://www.abacuscaralarms.co.uk/alarms/serpi_star/serpi-remote.htm
  16. Just stripped out the dash to find alarm control module! It is a gemel alarm? Gr 48t I am guessing is the part number. Anyone come across one of these?
  17. Might give it a try. Thanks for the direction! Need it moved fast as it is blocking the drive, lucky really as it normally lives on the road!
  18. No it's parked outside my house same as always. Don't have code. Going to call an auto electrician tomorrow get him to rip it out!
  19. I have a sigma alarm on my classic 2000 estate none turbo. The immobiliser has disabled all electrics, and now fob has lost code! Can I disconnect the immobiliser and use car without it? Any advice or direction is greatly appreciated.
  20. As above glad to be here! Greg
