Impreza Service interval
Does anyone know the standard service interval for an Impreza Hawkeye WRX or STI please? Getting all sorts of conflicting garage info. Cheers.

Garaged and MOT tomorrow
MOT Pass. All good for another year. It's only done 33,000 miles :)

Garaged and MOT tomorrow
Yeah, I feared the dreaded piston sticking thing. Here's a tip though. Clean the pushed out piston with some Silicon lubricant spray and wind it in and out a few times to loosen up. If there's rust on the piston, clean it off only in that patch with fine dry wet & dry and blow off all the dust then spray before winding.

Possible failed lambda sensor
9/10 it will be the front lambda sensor. Once the EML light comes on then it's pretty well had it. You can't clean it either so a new one is needed. If you have a engine fault code reader, then you may be able to see the O2 lambda reading live data and it will show you a value to check against. If its too high, then its a replaceable item. Also, to remove the lambda sensor, you're better off spraying some plus gas into the bolt joint to the exhaust and letting it soak in for 30 mins or so. This will make it much easier to loosen off the nut.

All that was needed was a pair of new pads, but got a pair on both sides at the front. The caliper had not seized, but the pads were so low on the front right causing the caliper piston to stay pushed out causing the binding on the disc. Cleaned up right front caliper and all is good now. And the car now uses less fuel lol. Got a new MOT too.

Failed on the front right caliper sticking this time. I only just had the left front replaced last year. Stupid brakes. This is the only MOT expense I ever get with this car.

Quite useful Scooby parts list tool
Nice one

Whats this rusty part?
Maybe ask yourself, if this has happened to yours, then could you be buying a second-hand replacement with the same potential problem? Is this a recall part? Maybe worth checking at a Subaru dealer first.

Garaged and MOT tomorrow
Cheers guys. Tyres are a worry. Recon it could be touch and go on these, but I'm prepared to buy two new ones on the rear cos its better being safe than sorry afterwards. If it fails (praying), is there a two week time period after the MOT expiration date to get it fixed up, or is it off road after the MOT expiration date if it fails? Anyone know? Cheers

Garaged and MOT tomorrow
Well, my Scooby WRX 2.5 Turbo '57 plate has been garaged for two months since loosing my job. The MOT is due tomorrow. So I trickled a little oil in it today and it started first time! No fault codes showing either when checked which is real cool. All light bulbs working too. Wow - solid car! Is there anything I should look out for otherwise before I go for the MOT tomorrow? Cheers.

vehicle registration plate
I got one too. It's R555UFO - "Rally 555 Unidentified Flying Object" I was told, or it could be any other acronym you may want to use... I kid you not, that is the plate! :) Anyone interested, it's for sale with the transfer over docs.

oooooft!!
27 bids and counting... that's a lot of car.

P0031 code on a new sensor
O2 front sensor #1 could be failing the air/fuel ratio. If its done a lot of miles, this is a possibility.

Tyres - where on car?
I've two Bridgestone tyres on the rear and some harder cheapo hedge-finders on the front. I noticed today that these Bridgestone rear ones are relatively soft in tread compared to the front ones. Also, the two rear Bridgestone ones are pepper-potted with small stones and I even found the end of a nail in the rear left - they appear to be picking up LOTS of road crap and imbedding it in the tyre's surface on these rear ones! I believe it's because they're softer, and although the WRX is asymmetric 4-wheel drive, the main tyre drive is on the rear ones. So, should I have the cheaper harder tyres on the rear?

ooo oooo ooooo ooo
There's new paint going on motors now that is "self-cleaning". It's micro-particles mean no dirt can cling to the paint so it stays spotless. I suspect it would have problems with Tar though :) See here:http://www.autonews.com/article/20140424/OEM06/140429929/nissan-tests-a-car-that-cleans-itself

Hi stants, to be honest I've got no idea on price, not least cos its got the rare private plate which is worth quite a bit. I'll have to check out what its worth and let you know. I will, say you'd be getting a really neat car.

need advice
Thermostat or trapped air in the hoses. Let it go cold, open up the top reservoir and squeeze some of the hoses to see if any air bubbles up.

Small Dents in my Boot
If you find a friendly independent garage locally that does some crash repairs, they usually let you know who they use because they usually don't like dealing in it because car services are easier money.

Nice car for the "Mrs" if she wants to get to the shops quickly ;) Want to sell to someone who will look after it also and a Subaru Club member might appreciate it was my thinking. Cheers.
