What have you done to your Subaru today ?
Have you seen this guy changing a cv axle. This is how I did mine with the aid of a £40 impact wrench from machine mart

I had one years ago and used to drive from manchester to copley near halifax every day. It was great when we had that bad winter about 5 years ago, I had the right hand lane of the M62 all to myself. :D :D :D :D until some numpty in a 2 wheel drive tried it

What have you done to your Subaru today ?
Had to say goodbye to the scooby yesterday :( :( she was getting worse with every mile and I can't be without a car for winter. Part exchanged her and one of the mechanics likes scooby's so hopefully he can fit a replacement torque converter (if thats the problem) and she'll be good to go again :) . Managed to pick up a Landrover Disco TD5 at short notice so at least I can still play in the forthcoming snow.

What have you done to your Subaru today ?
drove 30 miles to look at an outback, by the time i got there it was dark, !Removed! down, the dealer had an unlit carpark and the battery on the outback was flat. Anyone ever insured a car that was off the road for repairs. Seen a forester for £1500 so was thinking I may buy it while I get the Legacy sorted out so want to insure it against theft while its on the drive. Maybe even let the wife use it (once the legacy's fixed of course)

What have you done to your Subaru today ?
I'm pretty sure it's perforated, the jack buried itself about half an inch up the back of the sill.

I'll take a gallon if it will make my rusty sill go away.

bumpy ride under power
I'm obviously over rating subaru's value here. Maybe I should have saved the £600 quid I spent and just bought a complete car lol.

bumpy ride under power
The one at the auction is an auto but I like them as I spend most of my time stuck in traffic anyway. The dealer that part ex'd it said it was in pretty good nick and worth around £1200. Looking on autotrader it should be double that.

bumpy ride under power
I'll have to see what comes up, I mainly want the car for winter as I have a couple of motorbikes for my commute to work. I want awd or 4wd and the scooby is the best compromise for speed :) and playing in the snow :D :D :D :D i'll have to see how long she lasts before I get desperate.

bumpy ride under power
Thats what i'm thinking or maybe a dodgy diff. I'm waiting for a call back from my local scooby dealer to see if they have had anything part ex that I could do a deal on as the cost of all the repairs is far more than the car is worth. Having fitted a new exhaust, a new cv axle, welding up the sill, I jacked it up last week and the sill has gone on the other side. The rear subframe mounts look like they have been under water for 50 years. I think I am going to have to admit defeat and scrap it. :(

bumpy ride under power
Hi Guys need some more help please. As well as my annoying clanging sound under engine braking I am getting a constant bumping as I drive under power. It's as if I have something stuck to my tyre, it's most noticable at low speed in slow moving traffic and only happends in drive, as soon as I stick it in neutral and coast it stops. Cheers

front caliper change and brake bleeding
Something to watch out for. I replaced one of mine last year with a reconditioned unit and the pistons started sticking after a while. When i took them out to have a look i found lots of slimy silver paint inside. Looks like they painted the inside aswell as the outside.

Mpg
I bet you can't guess what I get. :) the best i've had in this country is 25mpg but on a nice long trip across france last year I managed 33mpg on the toll roads, if you can set the cruise control to 75 mph and not slow down for 250 miles it does quite well. That was also with 4 people in the car and that much !Removed! in the boot I couldn't see out of the back window, oh and 2 phones, a sat nav and a beer fridge running off the cig lighter socket. 1800 miles in a week and she never complained, wish I could say the same about the wife lol.

What have you done to your Subaru today ?
yeah but i could get the money back from the passengers I pick up. Oh no! that would make me a bus driver, scrap that i'll stick with the bike.
-
What have you done to your Subaru today ?
Probably the latter and we will be fighting for 2 lanes instead of 3 or I could always get rid of the scooby and buy a bus. :)

What have you done to your Subaru today ?
have you tried driving into manchester in rush hour at the moment, even a toasted snail would be quicker. Mind you once they finish putting in the new bus lane everyone will be using public transport so the roads will be empty
