  1. Thanks for that Mr B... I've noticed a drop in power on hills but not a real problem... So it's back to the DPF again.... Thanks Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk
  2. Driving back from South Yorkshire this weekend my Engine Management warning lamp came on along my Vehicle Dynamics warning lamp (Traction Control Basically) with a slash through it and I lost the use of my cruise control. When I got home I checked it out with my OBD2 reader and it initially gave me 2 amber error codes P1469 Possible Powertrain fault and P1468 which I didn’t note the error advice. I tried to clear the fault code but although the warning lamp went out they immediately returned. Reading the hand book it states this could possibily be an electrical fault or something more major and I should contact my local Subaru dealer etc. Has anyone any idea what this problem could be, where to look or any other information please?
  3. Hi Mr B, thanks for your help. I took a look at the CAT/DPF combination which was transplanted from my old engine to the new engine. I never had any trouble with the DPF warning light before neither steady or flashing. The only thing I have not transplanted from the old engine to the new one is the fuel pump and I’m wondering if there could be any upgrades done in the new pump making it incompatible with my injectors? I’ve used a OBD2 fault reader and it’s not showing any faults logged in the ECU. I’m thinking of changing the fuel pump over this coming weekend before I get a forced regen done and are there any foreseeable problems changing the fuel pump? My fuel economy is down over the last 500 miles by around 6mpg and whilst the car will pick up and pull away in the higher rev range the performance in the lower revs seems a little down to me. I’d welcome your comments and yes I agree with your comments about the DPF being counter productive, John.
  4. Where is the DPF anyway… Where do I need to look to clean it out please?
  5. Thanks Mr B for the tip… I went to check the oil this morning and got looking at the bonnet sensor… it didn’t seem to come in contact with anything to indicate the bonnet was closed… I recalled a bracket that I’d seen and with a little bit of searching found it and fitted it using dirt marks to align it and bingo the problem’s solved… Thnak for pointing me in the right direction... Still forgot to check the oil though..lol
  6. Yes Stants he’s been recommended to me before so once I’ve explored all the avenues open to me I might just get in touch with him… Thanks Yes Mr B I’ve ordered an OBD reader that bluetooths to my phone software, it comes recommended but I must admit modern day motor systems have left me behind… I just drive a tanker these days
  7. It’s a flashing light, initially it was a steady light and I followed the instructions in the hand book and it went out, this happened on 2 occasions but now the light is flashing permanently.
  8. No everything been transplanted from my old engine to the new engine except for the fuel pump itself
  9. What exactly is a Diesel Particulate filter and what does it do??? I'm pretty sure my 1951 Grey Ferguson Tractor doesn't have one nor my 1994 VFR750 motorbike lol
  10. Already done that, 70mph up and down the M180 in 4th gear without going into 5th or 6th but the problem still remains
  11. Anybody that’s read my previous posts will know I have recently fitted a 2nd hand engine which came out of a 65-plate Outback. My car’s been great over the last week apart from the central locking/alarm issues which I’ve posted. At the beginning of this week, the Diesel Particulate warning light came on and I checked the hand book and followed the instructions and the light went off, this happened a 2nd time and once again the light went off. Now the light has come on and is flashing and the hand book advises I contact a Subaru dealer. Does anybody have and thoughts on this?
  12. The engine I've bought has only 4,000 miles on the clock so, I'm hoping all the crankshaft issues have been sorted. But of course it means because I can never get anything like the amount of money back that I've spent on the car with the initial purchace and the replacement engine, I now have to run the car until it's death
  13. I've just replaced the engine in my Forester, everything works okay and it's passed its MOT today but the central locking / alarm is acting up. Before the engine replacement, when I pressed the key remote once the drivers door would unlock, press the key twice and all the doors would unlock. When I came to lock the car I would get out and press the key once and the car would lock all the doors. Now when I press the key remote once the car alarm system bleeps for around 25 times then the alarm goes off, I press the key remote while the alarm is bleeping and the drivers door unlocks, press it twice and all the doors unlock. When I get out I press the key remote and again the alarm starts to bleep, press the key remote again and all the doors apart from the drivers door lock. If I allow the alarm to go off then press the key remote then all the doors lock. Can anyone out there explain how I can correct this please, I've tried different ways and sequences of pressing the key remote but without success.
  14. Finally got an engine that's come out of a 65 plate outback with an offside write off... It's been 11 months in the making but I'm now up and running, taxed and tested... Mind you it's cost me an arm and a leg (in fact both arms and legs) and a lot of hard work when your laid on your back outside a lock up with wheel ramps and axle stands... Still a few issues to sort but I'm a proper happy bunny now.
  15. Then if the Crankshaft design has been reviewed, then shouldn't there have been a recall for a modification?
