  1. I'll give that a shot and see how it goes, but seeing as the problem developed after some time im not holding out much hope of it working
  2. All the metal shims are behind the pads and have been greased with brake lube but the squealing continues, Also re did it by cleaning everything off and then re applying and its still the same. This really has me puzzled me as i thought doing what i did would have solved it.
  3. Looks like i'm going to have to, weird thing is its been fine for months and now i'm getting all this hassle. I'll grab some new pads tomorrow if no one thinks of anything else.
  4. My front brakes have been squealing for the past few weeks and i just can seem to get rid of it. The front left squeals whilst braking and the front right whilst moving. I have taken the calipers off on both sides then Cleaned and greased the back of the pads, both sides of the shims, the pad clips, the piston face, the caliper "Fingers", and the sliding pins/bolts. I have done this once with copper slip and then again twice with brake lube and it has slightly improved it each time but didn't take long to get back to where it was before. Anyone got any ideas what else it may be or what i can to to fix it as i have completely run out of ideas short of changing the pads (which might help as they are a cheap make) Brakes are a standard one pot caliper
  5. Thanks for the help, I'll see if i can "Try some on" before i buy anything but i'm sure what i want will fit.
  6. I imagine its the same fitment at the rear. What size tires you running, Not worried about the poke as long as the tread fits under the arches. How much wider is the Saloon front to the wagon front?
  7. Looking to get some new wheels for my Hawk R Wagon and not 100% sure what the largest i can safely go without issues is. Current wheels are 5X100 15X6 ET55 with 195/60/R15 Tires. Been Using http://www.willtheyfit.com/ to see what the different will be in the rims but not sure exactly how to measure it all up on my car to see if they will fit. Been looking at some 17X7 ET40 for the front and some 17x8 ET35 for the rear, but i have a feeling they may have a bit to much poke. Would really like 17x8 ET33 all round for the Rims i have been eyeing but the front doesn't seem to accommodate this from my (Probably Incorrect) Measurements. Any help appreciated.
  8. Not really sure if this is the right place to post it but I'm sure someone will move it if it wrong. I am looking for a replacement box for my 2007 1.5R Impreza Wagon, Gearbox code TY754XY7AA but i have no luck finding a exact replacement. I have however found a TY754XY2AC which looks like it will fit but the only thing i am unsure about is the gear ratios and whether the current diff will work or if i will need to change the diff as well. Does anyone know the ratios or will i have to get inside my diff and have a look? I have had a look online but have found no results so far.
  9. I have had no luck so far as the local gearbox specialist cant find much info out about this gearbox, I was wondering if anyone on here may have some more info on this then it would help me loads. however i have managed to find 2 second hand box's, one in Poland and one in the Czech republic. Since these are the only ones i have found i have inquired about getting them shipped to the UK and what guarantee they come with. Edit: The gearbox code is TY754xy7AA If that helps.
  10. Yeah, one of those would shake your car to pieces. even the 10" woofers in my speakers make crazy bass when cranked up.
  11. I was having a quick look on my phone for some bearing kits and came across this vid, sound pretty much the same as mine, even with it getting louder when touching the gear lever. https://youtu.be/_lbpTLSditM Sent from my HTC One_M8 using Tapatalk
  12. I though that the Japanese would of had the latest and greatest in technology in their cars ;) . Yeah, that looks easy enough. I'll look into it a bit more when i am closer to doing it but it looks simple enough to do. I'm currently bing pulled to some of Cerwin Vegas Car audio stuff simply cause my main Hi-Fi speakers are Cerwins.
  13. Hey I have looked for a second hand box with no success, my best option at the moment is getting my one reconditioned. I have found a local firm that are willing to have a look and if need-be he has a business friend who specializes in Subarus he can send it to. I'm just awaiting a Quote from him. I'm 99% sure it is a bearing that has gone, the noise is quite hard to explain but it a kinda mechanical grinding sound, not a knocking sound. I have had a second opinion from a local garage and they also say its a bearing gone. Next time I'm out in it i will get a recording of the sound and post it.
  14. The stock head unit looked like it came out of the 90s, why does it still have a tape deck??? I just wanted to plug my Ipod in and I'm happy. Speakers defiantly need replacing as the stock ones start to !Removed! if you turn it up to much.I'll have to do a bit of research first as i know loads about home Hi-Fi but when it comes to car stuff and the other brands i know next to nothing. Gonna leave out a sub-woofer for the moment and add one later if i feel it needs it as im not after a loud or bassy system, just want something that sound clean and can be used at an audible level.
  15. Thanks, I didn't really want a typical first car EG; Fiesta or Corsa, so i spent a fair amount of time looking for something else that i could insure. I realized if i could find a 1.5 Impreza it wouldn't be much more to insure. I'll still be looking for a faster Subaru when I've been on the roads for a few years though. Thanks, will do. Nice to know someone local, I'll keep my eye out for you. :)
  16. Yeah, I'm picking the car up from the garage tomorrow so i can get some more info to google then. I might take her to a local gearbox specialist and see what they say. I'm willing to do the work myself or get the local garage to change it (wont repair it as they exchange them) if i can find the parts or a replacement box. I have seen a few boxes but none of them are dual range so i am questioning the compatibility, I would rather keep the dual range box but if a standard 5 speed fits then i might just go with that.
  17. Yeah, Still got the stock speakers but i needed a new head unit to plug in my ipod. Will have to start looking for some speakers for it. Hey Thanks :)
  18. Thanks, No real plans for her yet apart from getting her fixed up. I have put a new head unit in but that's it for the moment.
  19. The Main Bearing in my gearbox has gone so it will need replacing eventually, car still drives fine but its just really loud. It's been to a garage but they can only fit a new gearbox from Subaru at a cost of £4000, so i was looking at getting at either getting my box repaired or getting a refurbished/used box fitted, or failing that getting a bearing kit and doing the repair myself. I have had a look around but finding it a bit hard to find anything, i have emailed my local Subaru dealer to get a quote/recommendation but I wont get a reply till tomorrow. So in short i am looking for either a Replacement gearbox, someone to repair my gearbox, or a bearing kit for my gearbox. The car is a 2007 1.5 Impreza R Wagon with a dual range gearbox (hence the difficulty in finding a replacement)
  20. Hey Just signed up to this forum why looking for some help for my car. I'm only 16 (17 next month) and i own a 2007 1.5 Impreza Wagon that i brought a few months ago. Hoping to find some good tips and advice, see you all in the forum.
