  1. I'll have a look next time i have a free dry weekend, it would be nice to be able to change it if i can.
  2. looks like i'm back at square one. Had a new brake hose and a new (Used) Caliper fitted. But i have a feeling something else is causing this. I noticed yesterday on the way to work the same caliper was hotter than the passenger side one, and today the drivers side brakes are also squeaking while driving again. i have now eliminated the pads, disks, calipers, slide pins, and brake hose. Any other suggestions as to what it could be, im thinking it may be something to do with the ABS unit?
  3. Managed to find a replacement at a breakers yard for a decent price. I'll have a look at the old one when it comes off to see if it can be repaired. But i think this is the quickest way to get me on the road again.
  4. Definitely something stopping it moving. Put I back together. Rolled back and forward and jacked the car up again. Tried turning the wheel and the brakes are definitely stuck on.
  5. So I've got the caliper off and pushed it back. When I jacked the car up the wheel could be moved by hand with no resistance other than from the diff. slide pins seem OK and well lubed. I can't see anything obvious, but until I drive it again I won't know.
  6. I just pushed the piston back last time, it wasn't sticking as far as I'm aware and seemsnto have been fine for a few months. Sounds like this is what I'll have to do, do you know of anywhere to get parts or places that do refurbished units?
  7. After thinking I sorted my brake problems a few months back it seems to come around again. Driving to work this morning I started to notice a rather bad smell. After getting to work there was a good amout of smoke coming from the caliper. It's a standard 1 pot caliper off an Impreza. Is there a way to fix this or am I looking at replacing the caliper. Going to try and free it up at work just to get me going for the time being.
  8. I had the EML come up on my Hawk for a faulty CAT, car still drove fine and the code cleared itself a few weeks later. no clue what happened TBH. But if it feels fine then its probably not a major issue, if it was then you would probably notice something wrong.
  9. Mine doesn't have any tabs on the top and there are no immediately obvious fixings in the boot. Looks like its either glued on, or uses hidden clips/fixings. Trouble is i don't want to force it off and not get it back on or break it.
  10. Touch screens are defiantly the way to go now, best buying used as well because they still work just as good as a new unit. It says its a double din so should fit, but for that price I would run. A decent branded touch unit is a least £200 for a basic model and for a good one new its normally around £400. But i would definitely recommend Pioneer and Alpine, My Pioneer head unit and Alpine Speakers and Sub have yet to disappoint me.
  11. If they are sold as Double DIN they should be a straight swap. Single DIN is the same width as these just half the height. Send a link of what you are looking at and I'll see if i can help
  12. I depends on the exact connections you need or want. I have a micro USB connector for my phone which goes to the MHL converter and splits into USB and HDMI, and a 30 Pin Ipod connector. I have run these to the compartment under the armrest, just drilled a hole and poked them through. But if you just need USB then you could get something like This and cut a hole where your switch is and have it as a USB port.
  13. Just wondering if it was possible to change the Boot spoilers on the wagons. I've had a look at removing this one but cant see how its done. There are no obvious bolt hole and was wondering if it's just stuck on instead. I would like to put a WRX one on if possible. Any Info guys?
  14. It fits with no modification to the dash, Both the old and new headunits are Double Din so just take the old one out and the new one fits in with the existing bracket. The only thing you do need is a wiring adapter to go from the Subaru plug to a ISO plug.
  15. Yeah its a hawk Wagon. Yeah, most the time I just use Waze on my phone for the few times I need Sat Nav. It doesn't have a CD player but i believe there is a version that does have it. You can play movies and stuff on it, just need a compatible phone and cable (MHL output for Android and most IPhones work i think) The touchscreen is nice to have as it basically mirrors my ipod on the screen. means no silly menus or fiddling.
  16. mine has sat nav but it runs off your phone so it will use your Data. Also if you want to listen to music at the same time it needs to be on your phone. I don't use the Sat nav for the reason i can't listen to my Ipod at the same time. Also just grabbed a quick pic of it in my car.
  17. I think that's the slightly newer version of what l've got. Just supports apple car mode I think. I imagine the rest is much the Same. I also picked mine up second hand, works just as well as a new one would. Just make sure it's got all the cables you need as they are quite pricey to buy.
  18. I would recomend the pioneer app radio range. but they are a bit pricey due to being touchscreen. I have a SPH da110 from them and it works perfectly. Has Bluetooth calling, plus the options for connecting IPod's/iphones and Android phones. With a cable. There are a load to pick from so choose one that does what you want.
  19. I might try swapping to a more premium fuel to see if i can get more MPG out of my tank after reading this. I normally use Sainsbury's standard Unleaded because i drive past on the way home and its the cheapest. But if i see a goods increase in MPG from some higher octane stuff then it may be worth it.
  20. Whats the colour code on this? Tempted by the bonnet and possibly the foglights and surrounds if they fit in easy.

I normally fill mine right to the top each time and record the miles VS how much i put in to work out my MPG i have a 50L tank in mine and the needle sitting on the empty line means there is 9L left in the tank. The halfway mark means 25-30L is left, depending on how it feels like that day. In reality don't take what is says as gospel, I've had the gauge go up on my 10 mile drive to work, if only it did that all the time

  23. What size tyres have they got on at the moment? If they are the same as my 15" rims then they are 6" wide so a 205 Tyre will be the widest i would go for. I would say 205/60 or 205/55 to roughly keep the same outside diameter. This is a great tool for playing around with to make sure what you are getting will work with your car.
  24. No clue for a aftermarket filter I'm afraid, I'm just using the stock panel.
  25. I think it small engine big car syndrome. I can manage near 40MPG i think on a long motorway drive if i remove my roof rack and eco drive the hell out of it. Normal driving its around 25-30 MPG i think. I'll work it out next time i fill up and dont quote what i said as ive just pulled those numbers out my head from a while back. I'd say run some redex through it as that seemed to help mine out a bit.
