I need to get a spare key for my 03 sti, I have the sigma alarm that the actual key controls via the 1 button. I got a second had key from eBay and a new blade but you have to destroy the fob to get the old blade out. Does anyone know where to get these keys apart from the dealer, I see loads of used keys but no new units. I'm sure the transponder from the second hand key I got can be programmed but need a good case and new blade in the fob. cheers

The sterio on my wrx was factory double din I fitted a single and used the existing brackets and used one of the tray fillers, bit of fiddling and it looked good, on my sti i just got a double din kenwood, dab bluetooth all the bits for under £200, looks better fit

very fast way to see if its the wiring, pull the plug off the sensor this should remove the earth signal the sensor gives when pressure is low. make sure the plug (single wire) is safe and not touching, start the car up as usual and if the light still flickers then u have a wiring issue if not either the sensor is faulty or you have low oil pressure
-
agree with Stants, go get it on the dyno, even if it needs a map then thats money well spent

Try ebay, failing that give scoobyworld a call as they have a few they keep after fitting new units to chavs, I got a good one off them for £20 plus a gasket http://www.scoobyworld.co.uk/

Ok if its warm and at idle that will be the lowest point your oil pressure will be, if the pressure warning light comes on its a good sign you have an issue. as for the temp warning is that the same light or different, not sure if they are linked. Either way get it checked if you are running low oil pressure its usually rebuild time or oil pump isnt working well.

I believe its more for soundproofing, bonnet doesn't sound like a sheet of metal, etc

Another suspension clunk question
MJP02 replied to Sandals's topic in Subaru Tyres / Wheels & Suspension
Ah that wont help :) yeah get the springs fitted and hopefully you will be sorted -
where abouts are you cause most of us have fault code readers myself included, I'm sure one of us can help rather than pay a dealer for it

Yeah if that doesn't work you will either have to live with it, swap the pads or make a shim to remove the movement -
15psi boost, the plan is to get the exhaust swapped and then remap and see if she can get near the top estimate for decatted wrx

So 3 weeks ago I booked my wrx (02 bug) in for a power run to give me an idea of what has been done to it and see how the engine is holding up. I got there (Scooby Clinic) They booked me in first thing as they had a club RR day which I thought was good of them, as soon as my car was drove into the garage they stopped and said they could run it but no point as they could hear the up pipe blowing. Now me being an ex mechanic I was annoyed I missed it but never worked on or heard the boxer engine up close so I chalked it up to the learning curve and booked her in for a replacement. Yesterday (Saturday) I got there and they swapped it out and while it was on the ramps got them to do the diff and gearbox oil swap. 4.5 hours later she is up and running and being strapped to the rolling road. The Mods so far as I know was a SS unknown exhaust mid section and back box (new up pipe), K&N panel filter a 255 walbro pump and that's it. To mine and the technicians surprise she made 255.5 bhp this is with the downpipe cat still in place and no ecu tinkering as I was aware of. The afr showed she was running a little lean of full chat so I'm now saving to get the decat down pipe and a remap. Just thought I would share my little bit of joy Dyno.pdf

Glad it was an easy fix :) -
Another suspension clunk question
MJP02 replied to Sandals's topic in Subaru Tyres / Wheels & Suspension
Could be cheap pads, if the backplates are slightly to small they will move back n forth in the carrier this would give the clunking noise. an other thing would be very obvious as would require lose wheel bolts like discs moving if the bolt holes are to big etc. pop a wheel off, remove the spring plate off the calliper and see if you can move the pads around with your fingers easy. if you can that will be the noise. Other could be worn ball joint, wishbone bush, list is quite big, easy way to check. jack car up take wheel off, using a small pry bar see if you can create movement in the joint your checking, use moderate force only. If you find one bush or ball joint failing make sure you replace the same component on the opposite side of the car. -
pcd is 100 on mine, its just offset im unsure if they would fit
-
with the offset at 55, I guess they wont fit an 02 wrx?
-
I have not done the hoses yet, but flushed through with dot 5.1 when I fitted new callipers. Really don't mind high wear as long as they do the best job track and road combined, cost isn't an issue now so recommend the best
-
Nope before I got my members pack
-
Goodyear Eagle F1's, don't laugh but I found Halfords to be the cheapest to supply and fit. £310 for all 4 fitted and balanced.
-
So the main reason to buy the wrx was to get back into track days, now I fitted new grooved EBC disc's all round and standard Minext pads. I already get fade with aggressive road use, does anyone have any recommendations for pads that perform alot better and dont require track day heat in them for them to work on normal driving?
-
Its normal, I drive loads of different cars and use satnav's all read faster then actual gps tracking. some are 3 miles out some are 10. Think its the governments way of tricking us into going slower

Trying to convince my mate to buy it, but needs to sell his bmw first so cant help at the moment. lovely car though
