  1. Hmmm will have to look into that, it'd be nice to be able to turn it off when I want as at the moment I have to wait for like a minute which is a pain if I take an easy little drive for petrol or to the shops 😂
  2. Ok cheers! I might just give it some time and see if I can get used to it if not I'll route it to the glove box! 😃 the car also has a turbo timer, can't find a standalone unit anywhere so would that be part of the apexi?
  3. So got my 1998 STI but it has a apexi ecu fitted, really not fussed about having it but has anyone relocated the box mounted on the dash say into the glove box? Want to clean up the interior a bit might also try remove the boost gauge, any genuine pros of having a boost gauge fitted?
  4. So after a few weeks of sifting through imprezas I have found myself a nice fairly standard v4 STI! Over the moon with it, inside and out are absolutely mint, however it does need a new clutch and brakes, but still very happy with it! just been looking at clutch kits and I found an exedy clutch for fairly cheap but there's 2 different sizes 225mm and 230mm what's the difference? http://aztecperformance.com/clutches-and-flywheels/exedy-clutches/#/product/256 http://aztecperformance.com/clutches-and-flywheels/exedy-clutches/#/product/273 (I'll get some pics up tomorrow in the daylight) 😁
  5. Love those wheels!.. And the arches... And the turbo and the fabrication work... Haha think you get the point can't wait to see this done look awesome,
  6. Thanks for your replies! no stants sorry should have been more clear it's a 1998 STI just trying to get a clear idea of what to look out for when I go see the car/cars :) and also what's normal thanks
  7. Just done a bit more reading online and there are a few videos and such which say that piston slap on cold start up isn't a problem? And that only if it carries on when the engines warm that it's a problem? Also, (I could be completely mistaken on this one) that piston slap can be cured through a good map? And is there a way to test shocks without jacking the car up? A car that I'm going to look at on Saturday had a leaky shock back in September but seems to have been resolved while at the MOT but just want to check that the work has been carried out? Thanks!
  8. They would fit but would be a bit of a stretch not sure how legal stretching tyres is?
  9. Nice! why don't i have that sort of luck?? haha good buy, look forward to seeing it reinstated to its former glory!
  10. Yea spoke to the guy and he talked me to death before I could get a question in haha but by the sounds of it, it does have quite a few receipts with it but not completely sure on a proper service history though, do you know how much it went for on eBay? yea I thought the price was a bit high too, wasn't going to pay a penny over 6k
  11. Yea of course http://www.mansfield-car-centre.co.uk/used-cars/subaru-wrx-sti-mansfield-201512219590025
  12. It's a shame really, the island genuinely does have so much to offer, if the costs were cheaper the island could see a massive increase in tourism
  13. Hi all, I live in the isle of man and there's no cars over here for sale, so i'm looking in the uk which is a real pain without spending £300+ to go over and look at cars to maybe buy them. so this might be a long shot, but worth a try never the less, I'm looking at a classic impreza sti at mansfield car centre. The place has awful reviews so i'm very wary about them, however the car pretty much ticks all my boxes! However i don't want to spend a lot of time and money travelling over to find that the car is an absolute turkey so I'm wondering if there are any beautiful people on this forum that know a thing or two about subaru's and have looked at the car already or don't mind having look for me! Failing that, any reputable garages that i can ask the guy to send the car to, to be checked over nearby? any help or general advice would be great! :D Thanks, Greg
  14. It certainly can be however I've just been looking at the boat today and to go over as a foot passenger and come back in a car is only £150 which is a very good price in my books! I suppose it depends on the time, like obviously school holidays are going to be dearer
  15. indeed! sometimes, if your want to go to say spain or greece or somewhere like that, the plane tickets to get on and off the island cost more than the ones to get abroad! not to mention bringing a car over as you say its horrendous!
  16. even just the TT atmosphere is brilliant well worth it! Its just the prices are a bit steep to get here
  17. would be awesome! especially during the practise week of TT week when the mountain section goes one way and theres a lot of super cars and sport cars come over!
  18. Yea I'm not suprised to be fair, the Island is pretty much an ideal playground for scoobies or evo's or anything along those lines!
  19. Where abouts can you see the top of the strut? Or is it a case of check inside the wheel arch?
  20. Awesome! Thanks! I live on the Isle of Man and there's nothing decent on island for sale so buying cars from England is a real pain but I think it'll be worth it 😁
  21. Hi everyone, looking for information and advice on buying my first scooby looking for a nice classic STI looking forward to getting stuck in to the Subaru world, I've had a few cars since I was 16 mainly BMW's and Seat's so this is a big change :) cheers, Greg
