  1. Hi Guys Hope you're all well! Selling my Foz - contact me through ebay listing if interested. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/222409601446?ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1555.l2649 Regards Ben
  2. Took it out for a drive on my lunch break - put some red x in to try and clear the system a bit as I'd run it down to empty and the chap I bought it off religiously treated quarter tank as empty for the 7 years he owned it. No smoke from exhaust and idle is normal once warm, revs fine and no oily particles coming from exhaust. Still running a bit lumpy and not giving full power when you give it throttle so there's a problem somewhere. The chap I bought it off (work mate) came down and had a look and said the car has a self regulating ECU so it might take a couple of hundred miles to level out being that I'd run it low and filled it up. He said that it may have pulled some crap through the system and the sensor may have caused the "Check Engine" light to come on. The fuel pump was a new part in Feb this year and I have the receipt for £600+ supplied and fitted. Annoying none the less being that I've only had it 2 weeks! Drove lovely down to birmingham and back (200 miles+). Stants - I have no idea how to do the self diagnostic check! Any chance you could talk me through it? Gonna drive it home conservatively and hope theres no problems! Thanks in advance for your time and help guys
  3. Hi James It's only just had a new fuel pump 2 months ago so I'd hope that it isn't that! I'm going to have to attempt driving it home. Just hope it's nothing major! Any further wisdom or advice would be much appreciated!
  4. I need to drive it 40 miles home - risk it!?
  5. Morning all I’ve got some issues on the FOZ! Ran it up to Birmingham and back and did as good 200+ miles with her running fine earlier last week. Didn’t really use her over the weekend. Got in it this morning and drove it 20 miles towards work driving really steady, no turbo use really as I was nearly on the red and was trying to get it to fuel station without the light coming on – no issues up to this point! Got to fuel station and filled it up with 58 litres of Shell Nitro Power Unleaded – got in it and pulled out on to main road, got into 3rd gear and went to put foot down and it was coughing and spluttering all over so I let off, went into 4th and applied gentle throttle and it seemed normal, then into 5th and up to 60mph and went to give it some throttle and it was wobbling all over the place, giving no boost and feeling pretty dodge! I had about 5 miles to go the get to work so I drove really steady, not asking for any power and as I got very close to work I gave it steady throttle in 4th and it seemed to give me boost fine until I let off and slowed down due to traffic at which point the “CHECK ENGINE” light came on and then it stalled! I pulled over to verge and let it sit for a moment and then re-started it. It was slow to start and felt very wobbly – I limped it to work – the check engine light didn’t come on again but its not running right! Any ideas or help would be much appreciated – We’ve only had it 2 weeks! Makes me wonder if I’ve been had! FFS!!!!!!!! Ben
  6. Hi All The foz is running .9 bar with a cosworth panel filter and 2.5" catback exhaust and the only other changes are uprated anti-roll bar linkage and dump valve off a impreza (recirculating) I'm considering getting a GFB/SCR Mach 1 dump valve on as I miss the noise on gear change - has anyone used one or got any knowledge of them? Found it on scooby clinic - think its £120. Any recommendations or thoughts would be appreciated Spraying the wheels and calipers this weekend and plasti dipping all the badges. I'm also considering plasti dipping the bumpers and door protectors black (with glossifier over the top to match the metallic green shine) - I'm not a fan of the silver / champagne colour on the foz I've got! May even do the bonnet too - anyone ever plasti dipped before? Ben
  7. Hi Mr B - Just referencing what you mentioned about bite point - I've noticed in my s-turbo that in first and second its very hard to get a non-clunky change. Seems to make a bit of a bumpy noise when it re-engages. Higher gears arent so bad. First gear is by far the worst. Only had the car a few days and just noticed it. Other than that, its mint! Running .9 bar boost and she flies! Just had new fuel pump and full service. Cambelt was done at 85,000 in 2011, shes now at 120,000 so am I correct in thinking it should be done at about 135,000? Thanks in advance
  8. Tell me about it! Been looking at the sf5 sti bumbers and skirts - expensive! I remember the good old days when you could get body kits cheap in the UK - Not any more! Guess she's just gonna have to do with being lowered and having a stock body! May change the grill and stretch to an sti roof spoiler at some point. Money may be better spent on the engine!
  9. Afternoon Scooby Doo's I'm trying to locate some STI Style fog lamp covers for the S-Turbo SF5. I don't want the STI decal on them, just need the covers. Any help welcomed! Ben
  10. Thanks chaps - door cards no, fronts yes and rears need some small adjustments. Got full black heated leather out of an xt 05 plate for £80! Gonna cover the door cards myself.
  11. Is that a good price then or was that sarcasm!? Can I just swap turbos or would it need remapping + supporting mods? Thanks
  12. !Removed!! Mind you, turbo whistle sounds better anyway. Was reading your post earlier (the one that dates back) - really good! As you've done it already, any ideas on what the total rough cost and list of things I'd need to do for the TDO4 swap? Just found this - worth a punt? https://www.gumtree.com/p/car-replacement-parts/cat-back-exhaust-subaru-forester-stb-sf5-97-/1170502261
  13. Good advice buddy - would have never thought to check that! I'm presuming you don't get the pronounced "sucking" noise with a panel of that you would get with a cone and cold air feed? Most people advised on the cosworth panel as apposed to the other alternatives so will be ordering one this week
  14. Thanks guys So is it just springs or is it shocks and springs that I need off a classic impreza? As you can tell, I like my cars but I'm by no means an expert hence the questions! Any ideas how much the drop would be? Top mounts like these? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Subaru-Forester-96-08-Front-Top-Strut-Shock-Absorber-Mounts-STi-XT-Turbo-S-STB-/281882171155?hash=item41a17c9713:g:AIoAAOSwAKxWauTn Any information is appreciated Regards
  15. Hi Guys Desperately need to know if seats/door cards out of an 05 SG model forester will fit into my X reg SF5 S-Turbo model? Would I need the subframes too or would the seats fit my frames? Any help would be most appreciated! Regards Ben
  16. Hi All I'd like to pick your brains on what parts will fit my foz? I don't want to spend a fortune on lowering so it would be great to know which impreza parts, models, years would be suitable to put on the foz to get her sitting a bit lower. Spacers? Cambers? etc - any advice or info would be most appreciated!
  17. Hi Stants Thanks for the reply - it's the EUDM one's (Red S and Silver Turbo) I'm after but cant seem to find them anywhere. I'd greatly appreciate your knowledge on my other questions mate. Thanks in advance Ben
  18. Thanks Guys! Much appreciated wisdom - sounds like I'll be going with a cosworth panel straight replacement. Do they come dry or oiled? Heard about the MAF sensor problems with oiled panel filters! Where's the cheapest place to get hold of one? Regards
  19. Hi All I'm new to the Forester and wanted to see what peoples views are regarding improving the lungs! I've never used a performance panel filter replacement before. Previously used Blitz SUS cones on my integra type R and Rev 5 MR2 which I must admit were awesome. In your opinions, which setup would better suit the S-Turbo - Panel (K&N, Green Cotton) or Cone (Blitz, HKS or alike)? What have you used with good results? Thanks in advance for your time and replies Regards Ben
  20. Hi Fozzy Lovers! I've just joined the forum having just bought my first Subaru! After drooling over that amazing flat four turbo burble since I was 12 reading max power and kidding myself at 17 I'd have saved enough paper round money to buy and ensure one (errr wrong)! That day has come some 19 years later and I've got myself a really clean X Reg Forester S-Turbo with 118k on the clock. Completely standard other than Impreza dump valve, anti roll bar links and boost valve wound up to .9 bar. Really well maintained with only 2 owners, no rust (well, a tiny on the windscreen surround) and a great looking little beast! My wife and I have recently had our first child and we breed huskies so needed another estate (Volvo v40 sport turbo estate had done spaceship miles so is being sold off cheap) which opened the door nicely to the subaru dream! I have no real plans for her other than to get a K&N panel filter, multispoke wheels and to black the rear windows whilst detailing the body and pulling out the one dink and sort the rust on the windscreen. (Subject to change)!!!! Haven't told the wife but I've been researching switching the turbo for the TD04 - Do you need to do any other supporting mods or remap or is it just a straight swap plug and play? Also - what are the main benefits in terms of bhp increase, torque and range? Now....to the point of the post. I can't seem to find S-Turbo badges anywhere! And I mean....anywhere! Anyone know where I can get one? I'm also on the look out for some leather seats and door cards if anyone ever hears of any / knows of any. Can I only look at forester interiors specific to my model and year or do other models offer a standard fit without having to buy new sub frames? Also, do any of you know if legacy interiors fit foresters? Looking forward to becoming an active member and fellow fozzy enthusiast! Thanks in advance for any replies or info. Regards Ben
