Haha. Yeah i nipped home on me dinner to see what i could see. Bottom hose appears to go into pump just off centre to the right as you look at the car. I reckon once i've removed the undertray i will be able to see if there is any water leakage from the pump housing as it's easier to see from underneath don't think i'll have to remove the belts either : ) The chap says as the rad had to come out check condition of the bottom hose and fit while i'm there I take it gravity will play it's part and the water will leak from the bottom if there is any
-
!Removed! ! I'll take under tray off and see if anything drips or i can see leakage from there. Which aux belts is it ? A/c and ps ? I really didn't want to start puling everything apart

remote kits or galley plug for installing senders

Miggis that is correct :) once i have the more pressing issues sorted i'll attack that -
The car has lost a little water overnight Spoken to hebden bridge subaru on phone today and the have said check water pump as i've had all the belts changed. And some times this causes the pump to fail. Or leak, How easy is it to get the plastic surrounds off to see everything ? They also said a sniff test won't show much up on subarus. Something about water to water pressure so if the gasket does go more likely to have over flowing expansion bottle.and general badness but not much coolant loss. I'm hoping it's something cheap ish as opposed to engine out job. So i'm gonna hav the car on stands tonight follow the advice he's given me anout expelling any unwanted air and check the water pump
-
Cheers guys, one last thing beforw i head to bed and have horrible nightmares. Which hoses need to come off for the belt change ? I've been downstairs and run it for 10 mins it got warm and the top hose was hot. A few little bubbles appeard in expansion which makes me think air lock too. I'll check the levels in the morning and if needs be put heaters on and burp the bottom hose see if that fixes the problem

update, car sat for a couple hours, under rad cap is full but it's drunk just under an inch from expansion bottle, if filled it up and am going to let it sit all day and walk to work, check it again in the evening that way i can be sure there isn't an external leak, i've just scared myself silly by googling head gasket failure, car doesn't smoke and there didn't appear to be anything in the oil so fingers crossed

sorted wiring (i think) i want to keep the dummy light stock sender and just put a pressure one in has anyone got any experience of these ? http://rspec.co.uk/b-gauge-adaptors-b/subaru-adaptors/subaru-remote-oil-pressure-dual-sensor-adaptor-remote-kit i'm assuming i just undo original sender screw this in then replace sender at the end of the tee and after market sender on the side ? sorry for all the questions, i don't want to take everything appart only to find out i'm short ! haha -
how full should the 'radiator tank' (one with the pressurized cap) be ? seems fine touch wood i'm gonna go check it now it's been sat for a couple hours
-
Just found me expansion tank empty. Should i be worried ? It was full when i bought it in june now the cars had all it's belts changed at start of month so could they hav not topped it up after service ? There's been no sign of leakage parked up no mayo n oil cap and the temp gauge hasn't ever gone above half way. Just stopped and bought some de ionisd water topped back up. Off to dentist so i'll check what th leves are like when i get back out. Am i being over paranoid ?

Tell me about it! Turning out to be a righg ball ache locating suitable places to tap into wiring. So far it's the two wires that go from foglight to ignition for ground and 12v acc power now i've just got to find the right perm live one. If the clock wasn't mounted in the headliner this would have been easy and done already -
cheers for the measurements totally pointless though as i tried removing the cubby box this evening and found out that the air vents are attached to it so it's a none starter :(
-
cheers, from what i can see using my basic electrical knowledge i need to locate and tap into these top three and a ground then i'll be laughing, 12v constant, black/white to white ignition harness 12v ignition wire black to green ignition harness 12v accessory wire black/blue to yellow ignition harness if i'm wrong someone please shout. i was gonna use the clock loom but i can't find where it disappears into the headliner which is annoying, i may just cut the clock wires at source and splice the gauge into it and run it back down the a pillar
-
Just having a poke around to see where to run the oil pressure gauge from, can anyone tell me whats what with the wiring ? All the loom under the dash has little grey spots on the various wiring. As well as a mix of colours. I was hoping for solid grey red yellow black etc

Cheers miggs : ) -
Gauge turned up today so i need to work out where to locate/which method. I'm fairly handy with the spanners bug not worked on subaru's before so idealy i'm looking forthe easiest option, 1.buy a galley plug adapter pop everything in there (oil pressure sender) had a quick look but couldn't find them, was about 9 last night and getting dark. I assumed i'd be able to see the one near the turbo but no. 2 relocate original pressure warning light with kit and attach sender on side of t-peice, Anyone know if there are any major differences betwewn the foreater engine layout to the impreza :-)
-
how do. i'm gonna measure the pillar and get back to them as i don't know how diferent it is i'll have a better idea after i've had a look at an impreza. they have said if needs be they can leave a bit more on the edge and i can always cut it back to fit. my dash has a little more at the front before the pillar if that makes sense
-
ah dunno. is it sat in a recessed bit ? saw someone's car the other day with a tripple gauge pod on the centre of dash. was wondering if it would just fit into the cubby box hole that i have. i'll just have a closer peek at everything on saturday :-)
-
when you have a spare 5 mins does anyone fancy measuring the dash top cubby box for me ? i'd like to know if it's the same shape/size of the sf forester. deciding weather to go the whole hog with gauge install witdth and length would be nice. cheers adam
-
cool i'll prob be leaving leeds around ten so will aim to get there for 12 got wrong day for our kid's b'day disappointed on the lack of lady boy entertainment now though tuts !
-
i'm tossing up between the two mightt even just go for this http://deporacing.co.uk/catalogue/combo/view/26/ i don't really have the space to place them as i'm not sure if the dash box is the same size as the impreza and i don't really want them on top of the dash and after measuring the din cubby hole found they won't fit. i'm after more function than owt
-
i like ! i take it that's electric as opposed to mechanical ? payday tomorrow so i'll be purchasing the one without the peak functions and an oil pressure gauge from them. how long did it take to arrive ?
-
i like to see who i'm supposed to be calling daddy ! what happened to all the interest from the interest from the other thread ? typical haha
-
anyone else ? i'm begining to fear for my saftey, vunerable young chap that i am all alone with gambit and his collection of masks :-\

I've been doing a bit of reading up it appears the problem is 'bIuckle crunch' the buckle straps are too long by all accounts. I'm trying not to worry about it till i need to as the worst case is changing the car. I'm hoping i can find some shorter buckles and just swop them over. How do i remove the rear seat to get at the fastening ? Looking on the internets there are seats with alternitive routes so i'll just keep looking

Just been to mother care to purchase a maxi cosi easi base2 and cabrio fix seat. (NONE ISOFIX) The lady at the fitting centre told me the base didn't fit but seat ok. On maxi's website there is no listing for foresters older than 2002. 2002 and above it said fit both fine. The belts and fitting look identical to my 97 forerster can anyone shed any light on this ? What seat are other people using, she said i'd struggle when it came to forward facing seats ?
