  1. Hi everyone So this is probably been answered before Picked up my 16 plate WRX STI this week, i intend to keep it pretty much stock, apart from a few touches here and there But the speakers... They have gotta be changed! I want to keep the standard head unit. I know its not best, but i'm happy enough with it , and it does everything i want it to do. My thinking is, change the speakers, soundproof the doors (i think there is a lot of hollow in the doors that seem to create the standard 'tinny' sound. I don't want beefy bass, i would like a nice clear sound with a bit of depth. Can i achieve that by changing the four speakers and soundproofing the doors? Any speaker recommendations? And whilst i know an amp will boost the volume, is it necessary to improve with the standard Head Unit? Any thoughts/recommendations would really help!
  2. Ah christ, its just magic. Love it so much. Great, going to give it a couple of months before i change the exhaust. The urgent change needed seems to be the speakers. I know people say the Head unit isn't great, but i really don't want to start changing the stock. Anyone upgraded the speakers and ran an amp? I presume that is going to improve the quality of sound pretty easily Any suggestions on speakers? Thanks
  3. Thanks Ian Number Plate is ready to go on already Do you find any sort of drone on long runs with a full muffler delete? What was the cost for that? Seems to be a wide gulf in prices online!
  4. Thanks Geoff. Picking it up next week, really cant wait! Ive always wanted a Japanese performance car, but i have waited long enough (29 now!) to really appreciate it with a decent understanding of cars and the road! As soon as i test drove this, all sort of sensibility and efficiency went out the window. Hi Ian. Wow. Thank you for that detailed response. Really appreciate you giving me all that info. Great to know about the modes and diff. That really helps. I also ride a motorbike, so i'm very much an engaged driver whatever im in/on, but great points to keep in mind. Didnt even think about tyre pressures. Any particular tires that suit when i have put the miles on the ones already fitted? A friend mentioned Toyo Proxes.. Did either of you purchase yours within the manufacture warranty period?. I don't want to make any engine modifications (i'm presuming you may have made some mods), however i have been tempted to put a subtle performance exhaust on the car at some point soon. I don't want drone, as i'm on the motorway a fair bit, my main concern is keeping everything safe for warranty should anything go wrong but i do want to make it more personal.. Thanks again guys Ben
  5. Hi Everyone Iv'e gone and done it. Placed an order to pick up a 2016 WRX STI today! I have waited a long time to jump into performance car territory, and decided to swap my Merc diesel for a taste of the good life. Its going to be my daily, i do about 300 miles a week. yep going to feel it on fuel but, one life eh? Car has done 6k miles, and had first service. Unfortunately the dealer is not a fountain of knowledge, so anything i should look out for? I'm totally new to this. I want to look after the car as much as possible. I am committed to running on V Power/Momentum, and servicing every 6k miles. which seems to be the theme across the forums What do i need to know about the daily drive. Boost control, driving accordingly etc. Anyone got a cheat sheet of good disciplines to follow? Thanks in advance!
