I've done over 100,000 miles in my 2001 WRX. Now engine light is always on. Garage unable to fix it for more than a couple of days. I think injector must be blocked as power on acceleration diminished. Someone suggests remap, but I don't want to put old friend at risk, and I understand none of the technicalities - just that it has been and still is a great car. Any advice, please?

Hi Chloe welcome to S.O.C

I Don't see a remap helping unless you have some other mods added to the car that should have had a remap. If you can get the codes read from the ECU should give you a code and tell you what is at fault, it could be anything from very small to maybe being big :(  Hope its just a simple job :) And I wouldn't worry about the mileage as long as it's been well looked after not thrashed everywhere oil changes done I can't see it being a big problem :)

Wotcha and welcome Chloe - A remap wont sort that issue if it is a physical problem - when the garage sorts the light does the car return to its old self or is it just running without the warning light?

As Gambit says if you can get the error codes generated it will point you in the right direction.

Got any photo's of the car you would like to share ;)

Has your Scoob been decatted ?

If so its a common CEL showing up?

Kind regards
