monogfx
Hi there - have a modified classic WRX which we are about to change turbo ready for remap to increase bhp - looking for 350bhp max to avoid lunching the gearbox . I have some 550 top feed injectors from a Hawk, but would need top feed conversion to fit - which one is best? - or do we find some side feed 550's? Have seen some from the USA. Any ideas? savage bulldogs
What year /model have you got ? And have you got grey 380 cc injectors or yellow 440 cc injectors at the moment
monogfx
It's a bit of an allsorts - definitely not standard but had grey side feeds - car is 1998 WRX (I think). Thanks for fast reply. Great forum!
savage bulldogs
Is the coil pack in the centre of the inlet manifold or offset ?

savage bulldogs
That means it's a v4 With a phase 1.5 inlet/fuel rail set up . As matt said 440's (yellow injectors) would be good for 340hp ish depending on supporting mods . Cheapest option would be to find some ... Phase 1 /1.5 yellows although their a bit thin on the ground they only cost about £40 second hand as they can't be reflowed (made bigger cc ) they just fit and map . Phase 2 yellow injectors cost about £40 these can be reflowed (made bigger cc ) to fit these into a phase 1.5 fuel rail you'll need "phase adapters" another £40 ish Unfortunately I sold a set of phase 1 yellows for £45 posted last week , they made 347hp but were nearly maxed on induity . seeing as your scoob is used on track I'd suggest that if you buy secondhand injectors to send them to "lateral performance" and get them ultrasonically cleaned before fitting with new seals . I got my phase adapters from "carl davey" but im unsure if he's still trading .if not try mark @ lateral performance or Alyn @ as performance cos they might stock them

monogfx
Thanks Savage for the very useful info, now we have a better idea - shame you sold the injectors :/ - will have a look around. Car has GEMs ecu and made 270bhp on dyno last week. Car is stripped out so it's fairly light - just runs out of steam at top end at the mo. Will sell the top feed 550's probably. savage bulldogs
Forgot to mention I run phase 2 550cc nismo (Nissan) injectors in my phase 1.5 classic with the adapters but you'd probably pay £200 second hand or £400 new for those I had a quick squint ar the hill climbing vid [emoji41] are you running a baffled sump and catch can , if not might be worth it in competitive track conditions [emoji6]
monogfx
Thanks again - interesting. Engine is pretty standard so no baffled sump - want to get rid of the closed circuit breather system and use catch can - need to be scrutineer friendly! Considering we are quite well down on power against cars in same class (at least 150bhp) we have managed quite good results (son driving ). Did find these on eBay http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/4X-550cc-555cc-FUEL-INJECTORS-JECS-OEM-NISMO-REPLACEMENT-NISSAN-SR20-S13-S14-S15/181616472793?_trksid=p2045573.c100033.m2042&_trkparms=aid%3D111001%26algo%3DREC.SEED%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20131017132637%26meid%3Df78323c0603e47af8600a776ca5c8715%26pid%3D100033%26rk%3D2%26rkt%3D4%26sd%3D111582662531
savage bulldogs
If they're genuine nismos that's a good price ,I will admit I bought mine 2yrs ago and they'd just been cleaned I paid £180 (which was a good price ) They're not quite a direct fit as you have to file one off the "tangs" so the plugs fit , but they fit in the rails with adapters fine and operate without any issues I only mentioned the baffling and catch can as they do tend to breath heavy when driven hard and can suffer from the oil sloshing in the sump (when excessive left right cornering on track) . If you do fit phase 2's check if the phase adapter kit comes with both adapter and injector seals , as you'll need new sets of seals for injectors and adapters .unless you get recon ones and they come with their own seals
quit
yeah its only a baby turbo the yellow ones will be fine! my mate is running them on a VF35 which is a slightly better turbo and the apexi says they are at about 70 %
monogfx
Thanks for all the help - injectors are in and turbo too. Trying to tidy engine now and attempting to get me head around catch can and removing charcoal filter too. Seen some good links here about catch can but to be honest ruddy confused now! I will continue to search but any hints gratefully received. Just finished wrapping and adding ABW arches - will get some pics uploaded.
