Mne666
Quick question about my timing belt on a 1997 Impreza turbo 2000 The car has 109,000 miles on the clock now and the belt was last done at 70,000 miles in 2007. What's the mileage interval and/or age on a belt? Cheers Matt
stants
Hi mate,i'd get it done ASAP once every 4 years or 45k Best off replacing the idlers and pulleys if they haven't been done in the last change too
Scoobyghost
I was in the same position when I bought mine. The belt had only done 20000 miles but was 6 years old.
Mne666
I'll get it done sharpish then, I'm surprised the previous (only) owner didn't have it done again as everything else was done with no expense spared. Here's what was done on the last cam belt receipt
Dan2003wrx
Yes as the others say get it done asap, also just to add it is worth replacing the water pump too as you'd have to do the job again if it leaks! Also make sure you get a good quality tensioner and don't scrimp on this part-last thing you want is cambelt jumping teeth. best wishes with it, I have done lots of cambelts and Scooby ones are one of the easier to do if done properly.
Mne666
Thanks guys, I'm in Cheshire, can anyone recommend anywhere close? Someone hAs already reccomended a Buxton based specialist. I have a guy who does all with work on my other car, is it a simple enough job for him to complete? I usually buy all the kit and then just get him to fit it so is there anywhere in particular I should go for it other than euro car parts? And whilst I'm there, what grade oil is the best? Scoobyghost
I'd highly recommend import car parts. You could have a chat with Opie Oils and they will advise you on oil. They're an excellent company full of helpful people.

Scoobyghost
Filters: http://www.importcarparts.co.uk/parts-info.asp?id=5564 Belt and pump: http://www.importcarparts.co.uk/parts-info?id=10719&cat=96⊂=97&sec=143&var=25&dc=0&gen=&searchKey=&searchPart= I didn't go for the tensioner and pulleys because they had been changed on last belt change. Others will recommend doing them anyway. Ultimately the choice is yours [emoji4]
