jay14 Posted April 21, 2015 Posted April 21, 2015 Hi folks, in northern Ireland we have an annoying lack of good garages selling superunleaded, optimax or v-power isn't available at all!! So was wondering are octane boosters any good or safe to use? What brand is best?
jay14 Posted April 22, 2015 Author Posted April 22, 2015 Yea that's the highest mate, few places do maxol e5 which I think might be higher but none near me
Xander Posted April 22, 2015 Posted April 22, 2015 I think I watched 5th gear and use an octane booster made them loose power everytime. -- I make Films and Website for people
jay14 Posted April 22, 2015 Author Posted April 22, 2015 Yea I've read that some are useless and that some are good
Gambit Posted April 22, 2015 Posted April 22, 2015 I used one before it was for track day racing that was good felt good anyway :)
Gambit Posted April 22, 2015 Posted April 22, 2015 Think it was a nitro one just looking for it now :D
Gambit Posted April 22, 2015 Posted April 22, 2015 think it was this one I remember it saying it wasn't street legal. Which made me want it more. :) http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/RACING-FUEL-ADDITIVE-OCTANE-BOOSTER-Speed-Enhancer-/360529955752?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item53f1428ba8 I'll just add though I did only use it the once when local station was having a refurb and I had no choice but to be using the 95 stuff :(
dgarside Posted May 2, 2015 Posted May 2, 2015 I've seen NF Octane Booster recommend on a few Subaru forums but have always used Miller Oils version. Can't comment on how well it works but my old 96 classic ran smoother with it than without, not tried it yet on the 14 STi. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk 1
jay14 Posted May 7, 2015 Author Posted May 7, 2015 Seen this write up about methanol added to fuel to boost the octane rating http://www.turbofast.com.au/racefuel13.html So going by this if I ran the crap 95 ron petrol we get over here with 10% methanol I'll end up with 100ron fuel
