ChrisValentine Posted April 28, 2015 Posted April 28, 2015 So, I want something to make my 98 Subaru turbo make this sort of soundhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WqACDuwR9w0 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QBUIsYa_E5M <--- More like this one. Is that just with a Forge Valve and filter? OR do you have any videos of yours that sound better?I've just got a Cosworth Panel Filter and Scorpion centre and Backbox. Would I need to get it mapped when I put the Forge Valve (or any valve on)? Does it badly affect petrol usage? Any negative affects on the engine or turbo? (read up and found quite a bit of scaremongering... )Thanks in Advance,Chris
jay14 Posted April 28, 2015 Posted April 28, 2015 I like the sound in the first video, I think that might be something to do with the wastegate, I'm curious to know now as well
Scoobyghost Posted April 28, 2015 Posted April 28, 2015 Sounds more like turbo chatter than the effects of a dump valve. From my limited knowledge turbo chatter is caused by the air escaping back through the turbo instead of the dv effectively stalling the turbo. I may be wrong so please correct me as such.
ChrisValentine Posted April 29, 2015 Author Posted April 29, 2015 Blanking plates?I can only assume it's bad for the engine? Are dump valves bad for the engine?
ChrisValentine Posted April 30, 2015 Author Posted April 30, 2015 Sorry Stants, is that blow off/ dump valves that are bad for turbo life, or blanking plates?
stants Posted April 30, 2015 Posted April 30, 2015 Blanking plates mate, forcing the turbo to stall puts loads of undue stress on it,
Gambit Posted April 30, 2015 Posted April 30, 2015 Can get external waste gates to make noise or dump valves. Id say they had anti lag or something running possible with a blanking plate. To increase noise.
stants Posted April 30, 2015 Posted April 30, 2015 Screamer pipe if you really want to **** your neighbours off
