Hi all,

Unfortunately I have had an MOT and it failed on this rusty bit, and driver side rear shock,

Does anyone know what it is?

And if so where I can buy a second had replacement?

thanks,

At a guess it's the u shaped bit that runs round the front of newage cars, from wishbone to wishbone, maybe subframe related ?

Maybe ask yourself, if this has happened to yours, then could you be buying a second-hand replacement with the same potential problem? Is this a recall part? Maybe worth checking at a Subaru dealer first.

will try scoob thanks, but its rust and age related to if I find one in good condition and put anti rust stuff on it hopefully will be ok!

A lot are failing on this now, however I think you can get an aftermarket alloy part from some quick research, ideally someone needs to start putting these into production in oe style however. However it is a bolt on part, and if they become available there could be a good supply of otherwise decent mot failures going cheap....

This is from a forester manual but I think you are looking at No.29 - subframe
