Question?   When fitting new wheel disks or just disk pads; is there anything to be aware of?   I have a 2.5 Outback 2002 model.

Thanks Stants,    No electrics to worry about then?

Caliper bolts may also be a massive PIA to remove... I tried with mine but couldn't get them off... had to get it into a garage :/

and no electrics to worry about!

Thanks Sandals,    No electrics or sensors to worry about then.

I would agree about the stuck slider pins . wears your pads out quicker and warps the discs !

Can you use red rubber grease on the slider pins. Was hoping to do a bit of TLC to brakes just to make sure all is ok

I wouldn't use anything apart from break grease ( not copperslip ), the last thing you want is to have them seize up again and have to do it all again !

If you live in the rust belt where salt is used on streets you might want to go to cheap on the rear brakes because they will rust out quickly. You will be changing rear brakes a lot. Invest your money in the front brakes that's that's where most of the braking happens . The rear brakes with the emergency brake/ parking brake is inside the little drum, be prepared to change those a long with get of those parts for those brakes. I usually buy the parts and return if I don't need them saves a lot of hassle.

What are the best disc pads to buy for good stopping power?

Posted

I bought genuine pads from the bay from alanpriceautos007 . only cost £24.95  and they come with all the clips and break grease which you don't get with pattern parts .

Thanks for the heads-up; I'll have a look at them..

Hi Moss . apologies it was in the general topic area of the main forum not the outback section . I think it's under mot/service ,/ dealers part .

Thanks for the reply Bear01,     contacted Alanpriceautos007; and they do not have the brake pads I need for the outback.

Your help as always, appreciated.

Thanks Mart360,

Seems Halfords Prices are competitive with others.   Are Halford Disc Pads For Subaru's good quality?  (Pagid)
