First Subaru

Featured Replies

Hello everyone just introducing myself to the forum since I have no doubt I maybe spending some time on here looking for a little advise over the next few years at least.

Just purchased my first ever Subaru, its a very standard 2006 Impreza WRZ Type UK, still in the showroom I purchased it from, its in for an MOT and Service tomorrow before I can pick it up on Tuesday and I can't wait.

Here is a quick pic for you guys taken from the add I used to find it

Looks very nice; welcome.

The black suits the gold wheels in a JPS kind of way (for those of that era [emoji6])

Thanks, yea the wheel exactly as is, have no plans to change much about it what so ever on the outside, except maybe tint the back half windows, nor do I have any plans to effect the performance, its completely standard right now in every way, except maybe the prodrive spoiler but I would bet that was an optional addition from original manufacture, complete on all services and plan to keep that book running over any types of mods.

Only thing I have plans for is the interior, going to change the centre trim, and the stereo head set, since its still go the original head set from manufacture that is so dated it is a tape deck / CD combo with no ipod or USB input, so thats going to change, will pick up nice modern double din head set, probably leave the speakers standard have not heard it yet so not sure about the speakers but if they are swapped out it will be a straight up like for like fitting set.

Yea but then with the Stereo the entire centre dash is going to be updated, but aside from that there is nothing I want to change about it, so getting it from where it is now to where I want it should be a quick easy job.

Yea am iching even more now to pick it up, was suppose to be picking it up today, except just received a phone call and apparently its failed MOT and needs new break pads and discs on the rear, one of the drop links needs replacing and new wiper blades.

Kind of good news because at least I am getting the new parts at the dealers expense, but go dam it means I have to wait another day for my car so they can get hold of the parts needed and fit them today then take it back for a retest tomorrow.

Yep and at least I know its getting a proper MOT, I was going to do my usual trick when I get a new car that has just been MOT by the dealer, which is take it straight to another MOT garage, where I usually go, and get them to rerun all the tests without recording it on the system just to see that the MOT is sound and not just some dodgy deal they have with somewhere willing to give them a quick pass. But seems pointless now since its obviously all above board else they would not be forking out to get it though.

And there is the fact that when I looked at it myself I knew I knew there was not much life left in the breaks, and that can be said about both sides, but just going on looks I guessed they would pass MOT but then give me the work of replacing them all a few months down the line, least now I know in a couple of months time I will only need to do the front end, so am really happy about that to be fair.
