W444AJD Posted June 17, 2016 Posted June 17, 2016 Hi all - hoping to get myself an Impreza wagon shortly, will likely be a hawkeye wagon NA 2.0 - I know the turbos are much more fun! - but just a couple questions for you experts... Parcel shelf cover - it's missing! does the same part from the bug eye and blob eye fit the hawkeye wagon? These seem to fetch as much as £50 on eBay...bit of a bummer that it's missing. I'm looking at this one: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2006-BLACK-SUBARU-IMPREZA-R-SPORT-2-0-PETROL-MANUAL-4X4-2-KEYS-XENONS-FULL-HIST-/272274217861?hash=item3f64cedb85:g:OwAAAOSwGIRXYEbK The price looks really good? So I'm thinking it must have some possible issues - maybe clutch needing doing? It all checks out with HPI etc, 1 owner since new. Headunit - the factory fit one looks crap, so would want to fit an aftermarket single DIN one with Bluetooth, USB etc. Think I read it's not standard size? So do you guys know the best fascia adaptor kit to go for? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/CT24SU06-Subaru-Impreza-2002-2007-Car-Stereo-Single-Double-Din-Fascia-Panel-/261975581880?hash=item3cfef624b8:g:~zQAAOSwgQ9VrkMO maybe something like that? Thanks very much for any advice!
MJP02 Posted June 17, 2016 Posted June 17, 2016 The sterio on my wrx was factory double din I fitted a single and used the existing brackets and used one of the tray fillers, bit of fiddling and it looked good, on my sti i just got a double din kenwood, dab Bluetooth all the bits for under £200, looks better fit
W444AJD Posted July 22, 2016 Author Posted July 22, 2016 @Piggysniffer - I fitted a Sony MEX-N5100BT head unit to replace the stock single DIN one. It was an easy swap, just followed a handy youtube video - just a few screws to remove and use the existing bracket. Had to buy wiring loom adaptop from eBay at £3.50 and also ISO to DIN adaptor for the radio aerial cable at £1.60.
W444AJD Posted July 22, 2016 Author Posted July 22, 2016 https://youtu.be/Uj9lzb3dcCM thats the video I used - OK its a double DIN but same principal. I didn't bother completely unscrewing the gearstick btw as it wasnt necessary. eBay bits needed: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/250413926808?_trksid=p2060353.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/252218630012?_trksid=p2060353.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT and the final result...
