I've just bought a great condition 2002 GX Bugeye Wagon, its flew through its previous MOT's and has low mileage of 76k.

Aside from needing the drivers electric window motor replaced the only other real issue is there is an Engine Management Light on.

From quick search on the forums this seems to be a fairly regular occurrence and can be anything from a badly fitting fuel cap.

My question is whats the cheapest way of getting whats causing it solved with a hope to getting the light turned off?
Or should I even bother.

Definitely worth sorting. Cheapest option is probably to buy a ODB2 reader and resetter and do it yourself. Good luck 😊.

Yup, you can get an OBD2 reader for around 10-15 quid... this will tell you what the error is which you can then research. Or clear the error and see if it comes back. Could be an old code that has been fixed, but not cleared.

From memory that cable won't work with the sum software, you need a vag32 type cable to run it as the ssm uses a different protocol

Something like this? Does anyone have any experience with the freeSSM software?

For £9.95 delivered that seems worth having - if anyone knows it's any good or not?

This is what I use and it works great!
