I have a 2006 impreza wagon. Runs great, just replaced spark plugs, wires and ignition coil. Temps have fallen into the 30's and the car will crank for awhile before starting. The car only does this in the cold mornings, runs and starts great the rest of the day. What is the problem. Sensor, fuel check valve, fuel regulator, MAF sensor? Any ideas? Not throwing any engine codes either.

Anyone? Ground problem? All sensors, starter, etc. Check out fine. Bad ground and below 20 degrees F. It will crank but not start.

Any check engine lights? Usually a hot start issue but it could also be cam sensor or crank sensor.

How old is the battery? Voltage may be fine but cranking amp could be low so it doesn't have enough oomph to crank the engine fast enough.

Let us know if anything else changes.

New battery, altenator checked ok. Engine cranks strong just will not fire below 20F. Put jumper cables on it and will start right up, reason for thinking a ground problem possibly.

No check engine lights, all sensors checked out ok through the live data sensor.

It seems when you hook the cables up it creates a better ground and allows it to start. Not sure. Does the subie have a block to frame ground strap?

The battery/block, battery/chassis and i will have to find the other one. Thanks for the help. I will try to remember to get back when i find out what is wrong.

One under the intercooler, assuming yours is a turbo, that also runs to the battery,

There's also an earth on the starter motor that may be worth a look to

Its non turbo. Where does the ground go from the starter, the frame?
