Sad sale of my beloved Facelift Classic Impreza Wagon

Recommended Posts

Hey all.

I have mentioned this on the Essex forum but sadly my car is now up for sale. My reason for sale is that I want to have a more luxury car as a daily, and an old Datsun or Toyota as a long term project. Also with a second child on the way, I just won't have the time to pay as much attention to this as I have in the past.

Here are some details.

Year: 1999

MOT: July 2014

Tax: Aug 2013 but renewing it for another 6 months some time this week.

Colour: Blue

Modified: A little

Tracked / Raced: No

History: Yes - comprehensive history with receipts and proof of work. Timing belt done around 96k.

Engine:

1. STi intercooler

2. SAMCO hoses

3. Stock airbox with resonator delete and cold air feed with K&N panel filter.

4. New radiator in 2012.

5. New spark plugs in Aug 2012.

6. Serviced 3 times since Aug 2012, and I will do another oil and filter change this or next weekend.

7. rocker cover gasket replaced (what a horrible job!!)

8. Decat downpipe (heat wrapped), stainless mid section and Hayward & Scott tailpipe. I still have the silencer for tail pipe and also OEM downpipe.

9. Walbro 255LPH fuel pump.

10. New fuel filter.

11. ECUTEK remapped Tek1 ECU (I still have the stock one)

12. General engine bay well maintained and in a clean / tidy condition but not 'show condition'.

Suspension / Brakes:

1. STi dampers with Bilstein 20mm springs.

2. Full geo set up in March 2013 by Skidmarques.

3. Brand new discs and pads front and rear bought from Grahame Goode Racing a few months ago. Calipers painted black.

4. Front 4 pot calipers fully refurbished with new stainless pistons, seals etc from Godspeed brakes.

5. General condition of the underside in good condition.

6. Cusco front upper strut bar.

Bodywork:

1. No rust or corrosion.

2. I have spotted a 10mm rust spot on the rear passenger door (nearside). My only suspision is that it was due to a scratch on a kerb while the door was being opened. It is surface rust and hasnt affected the structural integrity.

3. A few car park dings from selfish drivers.

4. JDM electric folding mirrors. I managed to get the mirrors with their pigtails, so installed them in such a way the UK spec ones can be installed without the need to cut. My old mirrors are in the box.

Interior:

1. Standard seats and dash.

2. No rips or tears. steering wheel (MOMO) in good condition. Driver's arm rest on door card is slightly worn, but still sturdy.

3. 3 ProSport gauges mounted on centre 'cubby hole' hosting oil temp, oil presure and boost gauges'. Separate digital gauge monitoring water temperature. All the gauges have been fitted using the appropriate fitting kit for the block, and not sandwich plate. All the gauges have a common earth and power source (NOT the Stereo / cig lighter). The gauges remain on while cranking.

4. Front doors have been sound deadened, and components mounted on MDF rings.

5. rear doors also have speakers mounted on MDF rings, but no sound deadening (it was too cold last winter).

6. Pioneer DEH-X6500 Head unit supporting Bluetooth, 2 x rear mounted USB, 3 x high volt RCAs and a hostof other features.

7. OMP racing pedals which offer a superb feel. Property fitted with 2 nuts and bolts each.

8. Just a clean, but not 'show condition' interior.

9. Short shift kit with D1 Spec brushed aluminium gear knob.

Answers to questions you might ask.

1. The car has 6 previous owners, which MIGHT concern some people, but I can confidently say it is a well looked after example by me and clearly by the previous owners going on the amount of history and receipts for work done. Also the condition is great.

2. Mileage - My odometer currently reads just over 107k which averages at just under 8k/a. Below average for a 14 year old car.

3. Why have I not kept it that long? My intention was to use the civic more, but alas, my wife is in love with it, went back to work so has now fully claimed it. I want more silent luxury for daily use, and a toy to play with and build from scratch.

4. Private plate not included. The old reg is S523XOE. I think I still have the old plates, but if not I will pay for a new pair.

5. Anything else? It is a joy to drive, used daily and absolute fun. It turns heads, handles beautifully and not ragged like a loon.

6. Price? I have advertised it elsewhere for £2300, although I am open to offers.

My number is 0.7.7.6.6.2.2.0.0.4.3 or jason (dot) nortey (@) gmail (dot) com

My new child is due end of Christmas, and I would be keen to have the first ride in a Lexus.

Cheers. I forgot it also has a Forge recirculation valve. It's quite discreet. I went to the workshop today and took a couple more pictures especially of the engine bay. Ah it has HID headlights which are well aligned with a clear pattern. Stock H4 bulbs are in the boot as spares.

I will post them from my ipad.

Lol. You guys are cool. :)

Ok here are some more close ups and detailed pics. The car is dirty - I do apologise. It's been raining today. I went to the yard to just have a good look underneath etc and general check while hanging out with my mechanic. I have added some other cool pics if you like randoms.

Water temp gauge wiring. All gauge wiring either sleeved or covered on black conduit.

Rear right arch - rust free.

Rust spot on rear left door I was talking about

Forge recirculating blow off valve. I have the oem one also, but does not fit the STi top mount. This is not showy offy - it just works well.

20130822_192304_zps0a57f6b9.jpg

Oil pressure sensor. Again wires all protected from the elements.

20130822_192231_zps877264b7.jpg

Cusco strut bar - the brackets were tatty when I bought it so I went against the grain and painted them black. I will admit its not perfect but a hell of a lot better than the flaky items before. Function over form and all that. Ha ha. Also a glimpse of the heat wrapped down pipe.

Right side of engine bay.

Full bay shot. I forgot my old header tank was tatty to I replaced it with a black one that was lying spare. I have the spare untainted one as well.

Ok now the crazy stuff.

Mike (my trusty mechanic) and Paul (riding the trike) had just finished building the trike when I got there. The truck is Paul's. mike is currently building a classic Mini with Ford Zetec engine, rwd and twin Webbers.

Just for fun. There is a classic Mini in almost every workshop at that yard.

Thanks for the comments Gambit. More than happy to hang around, and thanks for making me feel welcome. However m next plan is to get a Lexus IS300 as a daily/family car. The actual toy project for the future is an old Datsun or Toyota with a V6 or V8.

J

Ps I am comfortable with fitting stuff etc, but Mike is tha fabricator and genius. I work in a bank so quite 'girly' compared to him. He does all the stuff than I can't do myself.
