Whether you're looking to service your daily driver with a top quality lubricant, or taking your modified vehicle on track, and need something to offer extremely high levels of protection, then there is an Amsoil product for you! For those of you that are new to Amsoil products, they are a brand with a rich history in motorsports, and a huge name over in the States. Sponsoring massive American events such as the Grand National Cross Country, the official oil in the AMA Supercross Championship and sponsor for the International Hot Rod Association, you can see why they're trusted time and time again by motoring enthusiasts accross the world. Amsoil was founded by Albert J. Amatuzio, a former jet fighter pilot who had conducted research on synthetic engine oils in the early 1960s. After several years of in depth study, Amsoil then formulated synthetic oils for other applications, including specialised vehicles and severe operating conditions. The breakthrough came in 1972, when they developed the worlds first fully synthetic motor oil to meet API service requirements - you can now see why they are so popular in the world of race, rally and track driving, as they were designed from the ground up to offer outstanding levels of protection, even under the harshest conditions. Opies have an array of quality Amsoil products on the shelf and ready to go, and don't forget that you can get 10% off everything with your forum discount code! oilman
Hi We might have it in the future, but as it's primarily aimed at commercial vehicles, a lot of people wouldn't use it in a car. Cheers Tim

People only use it if they're being cheap or in a pinch (as it's easily accessible at most Shell garages...) As for Amsoil, can vouch for it. Very widely popular Stateside and a great oil. My tops that I've ran in previous cars/bikes: Amsoil Royal Purple Motul Millers

I've seen people saying good and also bad. It's a cheap oil though compared to others...not something I would run personally though.

oilman
I think it is a decent oil, similar to the Helix Ultra from Shell, just aimed at commercial vehicles rather than cars. It's not an ester synthetic or PAO synthetic, so a good, rather than top end oil. The problem with it is that a lot of the comments about it are from Americans and a lot of the American oil market is basic mineral oils, so a lot of what we consider normal oils seem much better when compared to a basic oil. It's weird as Amsoil and Red Line make some brilliant oils and are American, but they do not seem that popular on the American market. When you have a 5.7 V8 that makes 130bhp, the engine is having a very easy time, so you can get away with using basic oils. Those big, lazy V8s are more like a commercial engine than what we would expect from a car engine. Things are changing with oils in the US now, but generally, I would say they are behind Europe with oils (except Red Line, Amsoil and a couple of others). Seminole81
Exactly what Tim said...oh and I forgot Royal Purple is another ace one that I've ran (and loved, except it is expensive!)
Piggysniffer
I run the helix ultra at the mo, 5-40, I've actually burned considerably less of that than when I was using a 10-60 racing motorsport oil, I think it was Granville and the helix is half the price
