Just heard from my dealer that a 96k service would cost a whopping £700! Anybody know why this one is so expensive? I do prefer a dealer service but at this price...

will be whole shebang, engine oil, gearbox oil, cam belt, air filter, fuel filter, cabin filter, spark plugs etc etc etc

They probably replace some belts as well as the usual stuff, if yours is petrol then you’ll have cam belts and plugs etc to deal with also. 

what you’ll find is different things are changed at different intervals, Oil etc will be every service filters might be every other service, other things might be every 3rd or 4th service. Inevitably there is a service where all of these things will align, and everything needs replacing all once, it sounds like the 96k service is that service.
