I'm confused?? But I am a girl!... My cel comes on when my car is cold but only for a min or two. This happens all the time but I don't understand why? Can anyone help? Please x

sounds like one of your sensors, one of the more knowledgeable members will be along shortly and will probably know exactly which one

Could be one of a number of sensors. Best thing to do is get it checked for codes which will tell you exactly which one.

Thanks guys... Can they check the codes without the light being on constantly? Will take a look at that link from the laptop later but thanks gambit. ?? Girly moment... What's an OBD reader jay? :-) x

It's a little device that plugs into the car's computer and read's any error codes from the car. But by the look's of it only the newage that work.

Yes you can check the codes without the light being on permanently. It's will give you any and all stored codes. Make a note of any codes you get then reset the ECU. Go for a drive and see if the CEL comes back. Check the codes again and you will know what's up with it.

The reason I say do all this is because if you have old stored codes from previous problems that have since been fixed you could end up chasing a problem that no longer exists.

I appreciate the advice guys... I think i solved the problem. I changed the knock sensor and it seemed to have done the job. So far so good. I just hope i don't jinx myself now in saying that.

Ahh... I'm not and never have been a girly girl. I fix my cars and go hunting, never wear make up and can drink the best of them under the table.
