My subaru legacy ECU Ice got a problem and now i am told to buy a new ECU. How can i get one???

whast the problem with it? whos said it's got a fault?

My mechanic opened it and took it to a workshop where they removed the said defective ice and put in another one.

What year model etc is the car.  Not overly familiar with interchangeable ecu’s.  Certainly doing a search for the code on yours a18-000 d4j doesn’t bring up anything available.
