kevstep0
how do you check transmission fluid on 1999 subaru impreza wrx. with the engine running or not (and what type of oil do you guys use)
Miggs
I check with the engine off, the dipstick is to the left of the intercooler just down a bit from the side of it, as for oil it depends on what you can get and what you want to spend, castrol syntrax works very well in Scoobys, but you can get better, viscosity should be 75w-90 Silkolene Silktran Syn 5 is good stuff for a good condition box Motul Gear 300 and Redline Lightweight Shockproof are better if the box has any signs of wear
Jay762
as above plus ensure car is on level surface as it can offset the level some recommendations from Opie Oils - S.O.C. members also get a discount http://www.opieoils.co.uk/product-finder/car/engine-oil/subaru/product-finder-2.aspx

Gambit
Motul Gear 300 seem's to be the one most people use but it's not cheap I've been looking myself at the oil as I will be due a change soon :(
